the repairs are coming along well

ive got good news! he was fit to repair the back bumper saving me £150

so the overall price for mine is around £650 now

i have to phone him later for a price for the fiesta

is that a hummer with a fiesta bodykit or something?

didnt realise they were that strong.

having said that, logic would dictate that the backs of cars would be set to cumple alot more than the fronts.

clios are made from tin foil, there's 3 in my family ranging from 52reg ro 05 and every single one has atleast one small dent! i managed to f@@kup my bumber and boot whilst reversing @ 5mph. both were replaced through an insurance claim which came out @ £1,500 (no structural damage tho). thinking back i should have got it done privately as it cost me £250 excess and i lost 3yrs ncb. the guy a the bodyshop reckons renault make their cars this way for saftey to help asborbe collision damage. doesnt help your bank balance tho

yeh that will be why. i'd rather have a car that crumples in an accident to absorb the impact, over one that doesnt.

they are strong where it counts though.

i know i am very pleased with this and i will post up the finished work when ready! could be mid-week of next week

You still didnt answer the question of why or how you were going so fast as to cause that damage...

reverse dounuts?
Its hard to explain! do you know the way you'd reverse quickly, take it out of reverse and slip it into 1st and take off as the car is still rolling back! thats what i was doing! i was showing off a bit to be honest but it was pitch black!

I would 'hope' he has learnt his lesson.

I did read a few post back that he was thinking his folks might help him out with the repair cost, personally my parents would have told me to get stuffed if I asked them for help with a car I'd damaged whilst showing off.

Have a good holiday but maybe avoid playing 'Russ Swift' in your clio when you get back.

no worries mate its obvious you didnt do it on purpose eh !!!
look forward to seeing it done mate :) :) :)

thanks panther! you've hit the nail on the head there! i didn't do this on purpose. some other people should leave their negative opinions to themselves.

if they have nothing helpful to say....dont say it

We've all done it in some shape or form and to differing degrees of prat'ish'ness.....

Some get away with it others dont......

But us who are older always (im 23 so not exactly old old) have a blinkered view of what we got up when we were young.

(worst thing for me was at uni going round in my black mini seeing if i could sqeeze through dead end street bollards saving me all of 4 mins to get to the main road butit was fun at the time  )

having said that, logic would dictate that the backs of cars would be set to crumple alot more than the fronts.

I would have thought it would have been the other way round; the front would crumple more to absorb the impact as you're more likely to crash into something travelling forwards!

A friend of mine went into the back of someone and there was hardly a mark on their car whereas his bonnet was wrecked.

Anyway @ the OP - good luck getting the repairs sorted.

NCAP tests look at the hazard to pedestrians too.

i.e. soft lumps of meat that are most likely to be bouncing off the front of your car!
