well i went out last night got the car up on stands and then sprayed all the bolts with wd40....

went back out this morning and got underneath to undo the bolts....2 moved and 2 were fooked...at which point i decided to go to a friends garage and get it up on ramps..

once there we had to use lots of different tools to get the 2 dam bolts out....air saw..air chisel...lol

got the bolts off and fitted the decat with new gaskets also...used paste aswell...

was sticking below 3k on the minute drive home but could still notice the better pick up...it didn't seem that much louder either

a quick question..am i best to leave the paste aslong as possible to set?

Not really mate. Will be set after about 10mins once its been heated. Now go out and thrash it!

Just rag it to the redline in 3rd and naturally let the car decelerate maybe even tap the go pedlle ever so slightly and you'll get some luuuuvly pops!

Your'll find with a de-cat that your'll lose low down revs but only an ickle bit due to less back pressure.

It will feel looser at higher revs. next step is to get a manifold, maybe a 4-2-1 branch manifold ;)

even between 2 - 3k which is all i have been doing today as its on short trips it feels alot better on pick up......

i will have to wait til tomorrow to find out bout the pops...wish i could see the back for flames.....am just really concerned about the connection blowing although i used new gaskets and i used the puttey stuff...am i just being soft though

they wont blow if done up tight and the cars been run for about 10 mins....leaving it overnight will do nothing as the heat paste drys with heat...if you read the tube, it should say "let the engine idle for around 10 mins"

when i put mine on/off i just drive it low revs for about 5mins, then i get bored, and start planting the pedel...never had any troubles.

POPETY POP POP.. nice, mine pops at idle sometimes if you blip it and on deceleration from higher revs. Bring on summer so that I can have the windows open to hear it better, try driving through a built up area so the sound reverberates back off the buildings.

well i had the 20 mile drive into uni this morning...and i didn't really get that many pops at all...i was trying but it seemed that it didn't want to....i had a few but not loads like others are talking about...

i have got some tapping somewhere to..probably my centre box...not constant but annoying

mine is silenced and it's pops like a b**ch and spits flames every now and then. I do however have a 4-2-1 manifold on mine aswell tho!

I think alot of it is how the car is fueling, obvously if its running rich then its gonna overfuel on the overrun, where as if its running lean then its not

if it pops id say the engine needs a remap...

also freebone - you have same problem as me, the mid box/center section goes tits up when the cats removed. and it makes the really quiet, if possible i would remove it.

@ Lunner - where did you get your center section from? im trying to get hold of one for mine. are the early mk1 ph1 center sectons the same length as the mk1 ph3's?

well when i put the decat on i then took a connection off the battery for 5 minutes...then put it back on and started the car...this should of reset the ecu...therefore i am guessing my fueling should be right......hence the reason i am getting little popping....

fatty - my exhaust isn't exactly quiet.....its just tapping ever so slightly on a heatshield..thats all

resetting the ECU? is this the propper way to do it?

i was told this by a renault technician...a good one...and it all seems fine..i think this is why i am getting little poping and flames as now the car is fueling right...

tom me son...your on flame watch tomorrow

well iv just replaced the silly "center section" mid box with a str8 thru....what a diff! so muh better. The sound is simply AMAZING! and guess what? pop pop pop's nicely to ;)

I've found that with my straight through centre section and decat system, 95ron fuel will pop an average amount whereas optimax won't pop that much at all. Anyone else found that?
