just got a 172 ph 2 - advice.

  RenaultSport clio 172 mk2
right guys i have just picked up my ph2 172 a couple of days ago - am quite impressed actually. i got it due to the better mpg than my old car (a celica gt4 - 18 mpg).

i am super impressed with how good it can be on petrol - i have managed to get it over 40 mpg's at the moment.

also love the handling - very sharp for a standard car.

some things i want to change though.

1. i found the standard brakes to fade very easily (my old celica had 320 mm discs and 4 pots as standard) - to start with i am going to get some new pads - what does everyone reccomend.

2. i looking at getting some lowering springs to start off with - am planning apex. any opinions.

3. final mod to start with i was planning a decat - what are peoples opinions on these and what are my options.

cheers for any help guys.

hey fella welcome to the club,

apex are one of the best to get, imo id have apex give you a nice drop 40mm and the ride isnt bad.
other people like eibach's but they dont give much of a drop but are slightly better ride quality.

as for a decat its a definate ive just done mine and its probably the best mod ive done to it, runs alot smoother, and pulls alot better

  Focus RS, 182 gone
yeah.........i have a 182 and i think the brakes are awsome, and iv read write ups that say, they teach most manufactures a lesson in breaking. Maybe you need to bleed them or something. I think you need coilovers instead of lowering springs, they still look high if you just lower them on springs.

have you a lot of dodgy roads in your area?
apex are spot on for looks, but have a harsher ride than say, Eibach's..
Greenstuff pads & new brake fluid will be ok for road use - not for trackdays though..

Pads swop to ds2500's but most importantly bleed the braking setup as stock brakes are very good the fluid fails.
