just got my first clio sport

just taken delivery of a ph1 172 and it rocks! Took a 182 round silverstone last year and fell in love with it so i bought what i could afford. So hi to everyone
ps. theres a whining noise coming from the engine sounds like a supercharger whilst driving if anyone could shed any light. Im aware of renaults being full of faults, laguna 2 is the worst vehicle i have ever worked on, i dont really know too much about the clio's but i think the driving experience will outweigh having to repair it every sunday besides my other car is a fiesta turbo.

bought a 182 with both cup packs a couple of months ago , my mate had a 172 and it never went wrong , had a couple of 5gtt before .182 had loads of little probs, but glad i bought it . have fun

whining is cambelt mate, get it sorted asap or it'll blow your engine. enjoy the 172, what colour is it btw??

As above, could be a belt issue, so get it looked at asap. Alternatively, the last 'whining' noise I heard, on my old Fiesta, turned out to be a wheel bearing...

definately engine noise and im sure it isnt gearbox. could be the tensioner or idler on either belt i suppose just wondered if there were any known common faults, both of the belts on the clio are a nasty task but replacing bent valves is worse. i live in exeter and the car is silver, thanks for the welcome

Whirling is probably a tensioner.

Has it got a new cabelt or one due or a AUX belt change due?

mines making the 'supercharger' noise, but i'm pretty convinced it hasnt had the cambelt done even thugh the previous owner said it had. I'm gonna have it looked at and changed so will let you know if that cures the problem
