ive just fitted another alternator to my 172 ph2 and u do not need to touch the tennioner, FACT !!!
as i did not have the correct tool i done it another way .
when fitting the alternator put the belt on to the alternator then place then wiggle the alternator into place and with the bit of crow bar action
bobs ya uncle , everything is nicely in place and works fine .
plus i got an alternator off e-bay for £5+ postage , so that saved me £120+:rasp:
