Just purchased a 182 FF cup :-) few questions with vid?

Hi all, been lurking a while now but just purchased a 04 182 FF cup with 101k miles. Car drives great apart from low idle at standstill, it sits between 500-550 rpm and seems a little lumpy to me, will give the map sensor a clean and take it from there.

Here's a video of the engine sound, does this sound normal? Cant hear the dreaded dephaser or water pump rattle but can here a squeaking somewhere, thoughts? Cam, dephaser and water pump changed around 30k miles ago.

Oe Renault and you will need a locking tool as well if you plan on doing it yourself.

gates powergrip belt kit, renault one still comes with plastic idlers afik? pumps are cheap from renault £40 and as euro can't get hold of dephasers at the mo then again renault £98. also aux belt kit £60. then oil and filter and chances are it's never had the plugs changed either.

Seems Birchdown maybe my best option, any idea how much the labour is if I supply the kit?

Only problem supplying your own parts is won't get warranty. They won't rip you off on prices anyway.

How much do you reckon all in timing kit, aux kit, dephaser and water pump fitted? £500...£600 max? Does the oil need dropping as its just been done?

Thanks in advance.

Specialist usually charge around 500 for job and 700 for job and major service which is good considering price of plugs oil etc

I've no idea tbh, not owned a Clio for 4 years!

Just email them through their website.

budget for about £600, water pump is a bit fiddly and adds a fair bit of time to the job.

Might be a bit cheaper at Diamond motors . It's £650 for everything , including oil and filter , excluding spark plugs . It's only about 30 mins or so further for you . Plus Mick usually gives it a free diagnostic check and checks over your car for anything else . It's where I've taken mine the last 2 times and I couldn't be happier with the service . His knowledge is 2nd to none. It might be worth giving Mick a ring.

i'd check the rest of the car over as well before you spend on it, quite easy to find they need £4-500 spending on running gear as well.

Running gear seems fine, new brakes all round, gearbox seems tight and engages nicely at the limiter and doesn't pop out of gear at high revs (mount problem I believe?), clutch seems ok no slip when in high gear (4th) at low rev WOT also no vibrations through the pedal. Suspension seems tight no knocks, rattles and drives straight. Just had 4 x Pirelli p zero's on with oil & filter service and 12 months MOT with no advisories.

Diamond charge £550 all in for Timing belt kit, aux belt kit, dephaser pulley, water pump, coolant and oil and filter service. Although the upper timing belt cover reseal is an additional £96....is this necessary?

Car will only ever be used on track 4-5 a year...

if it's weeping oil then it's worth getting it re sealed as it's not much more time on the job. only adds about and hour.
i've only ever resealed if it's had a bad leak and once torque on the bolts has been checked first.

Seems all clean to me, thanks for the advise.

dephaser solenoid seal is worth changing though, only a quid or so.
don't you get that with a new dephaser? if not where is it on the engine?
wouldn't a proper garage replace it,during belt change anyway, if it needed changing?

the solenoid is on the cam cover, looks a bit like a coil. just behind oil filler.

Quick pic before it went dark, will get a build/strip thread going...
