k-tec coilovers for my 172 cup

  A SHED!
ive just bought a set from k-tec. just wondering do these come set up? also i want no gap between tyre and arch but no stupid low, what would be a good height for front and rear?

  182, SQ7, Trafic
No they don't come set up and youv've only got height adjustability too haven't you?

You can't have it too low as they are very soft and you front wheels will rub on the inner arch on the front

  A SHED!
gutted, just want the gap to go between the arch. what settings shall i tell the garage to set them up to? i want the best handling but too hard that the car skips across bumpy surfaces

Don't know if this will help you but...

I just fit mine.

sit like this

The fronts are wound up very high, they go very very very low !!!

Settings for what? Only thing that will need to be done/can be done is the tracking! Camber and damping can't be adjusted on those coilovers!

Aluco they have LOADS of room to go down and the car sits nicely as it is :)

Are they good for cornering and bumpy roads the way you have it at the moment?

I have them 2 way to soft on the front. Lots of show but not the best go!

yep, yep
Mine with a set of uprated spring was better I think :(
But the coils are a lot smoother, not crashy :)

Sorry hadn't seen the replies on here. I'm not sure I agree with the comments about them being very soft, as mine is at the moment, bodyroll is drastically reduced the car no longer hunches forward under hard braking.

On bumpy country roads they're ace they do bump a bit more than STD but not loads and you can just keep turning the wheel and understeer takes much longer to show itself... you get plenty tyre squeal to warn you and if you keep pushing they eventually start to understeer slightly.

And the best thing is speed bumps aren't even that bad in them can take them at 30 and feels v similar to STD shocks. I still haven't had them professionally set up yet though. (Getting done on Wednesday, camber toe and all that crap)

Appologies for spelling I'm on my phone.

Ok sounds more convincing :)
What are they like for cornering then? I mean taking a long swooping corner, maybe some tighter bends at 50/60mph - not a hairpin lol

I am a pussy with long high speed bends as I spun my first Clio at 70mph on one but the car feels much more planted with them on and allows me to "dare" to take them faster.

I seriously fell out with mine when I fit them but that's because I'm a 20 Y/O r****d who got given some air tools a ramp and was told to have fun. I would seriously pay a garage to fit and set them up for you.

Will save you 5 hours of trying to slit your wrists.

But yeah, well worth £300!

And you know those A roads just out of city centres that are dead smooth tarmac with almost chicane like corners ?

Pure sex ;)

Nice little edit there while I replied to a PM ;)

Has me looking forward to getting a set of these if I don't go Baa & buy H&Rs

had them fitted, they are too soft i think. my front is too low and scrapping the inner archs on turning. is it possible for me to raise the height using this C spanner i got with em? can anyone give me a guide on how to adjust the height myself? thanks.

Slight difference to my eibach sportline and std shocks. They are too soft, and i can imagine them getting worse with age. Anyway, back to me being able to adjust the height on them? lol.

Have the people claiming these ktec coilovers are soft had welded suspension in the past or something ?

I mean they're a lot stiffer than Std that's for sure!

They are slighty stiffer than std, on my cup there is marginal difference between the two set ups of eibach sports and k-tec's kit. The coilovers are firmer, but my shocks had covered 57k. I expected a better improvement tbh. I would advise anyone thinking of buying this kit- that if you want the look and like to have a blast on b-roads then they are for you. However, i feel they too soft when pushed hard or say the track. I agree that they give more predictable understeer. Overall theyre ok, and ill have to see how i get on with them.

Can't comment on the track element as I haven't used them on track but any harder and they would be nigh on unusable on the roads IMO. (Maybe Leeds's roads are just shite)

perfect for fast road use & the occasional (not hardcore) trackday :)

im very interested in these too. is there much benefit over just lowering springs? (other than the advantage of height ajustments)

how do i adjust the height using these c spanners? just want to raise the height on the front. step by step guide with pics as im abit of a plank lol

^ Get a plank under the car (i.e. YOU :rasp:) and use he spanners to wind the coils until you get the height you need

Wee buns!

Yes, you're unlikely to wear out the dampers as they are uprated and designed to be used with lowering springs. If you fit lowering springs to your standard dampers then this will normally result in them wearing out quicker.

Yes you are if you can't use a C spanner?.:D

Seriously all you need to tell the garage is what ride height you require ( ie distance you want the wheels from the body) and set the camber to factory spec or a little more if you want better handling but remember adjusting the camber too much will wear out tyres quicker!.

Thats the only settings you can change on these dampers.
