  Honda. Tesla Someday
How long do these usually take to fit?

On a scale of 1 - 10, how hard are these to fit?

Stressed over this!!!

i need a guide too!! i bought some coilys too and i dont know how to put them on! is it just a simple case of taking off and swapping? is there anyway standard parts from the original shock that needs to go back on?

We're in the same boat!!!

Taking the brakes off etc scares me!

How much does it usually cost to fit these babies!?

my garage charge 50 quid but i put my springs on myself.

really is a piece of piss. just make sure the driveshaft doesn't pop out when your doing the front ones ors you will be fecked.

follow fubars guide, you wont go wrong, all you need is some spring compressors.

2 hour job max! can probably be done in an hour!

start with the rear its easier, unbolt the rear damper from the top (inside the boot, then jack it up to take the weight of the car and remove the bottom bolts of the damper so the damper comes off. keep jacking it up untill the springs can be pulled out (or fall out!) then refit the new ones the same as removal

open the bonnet, remove the suspension top bolts, jack car up and remove wheels, you will see the 2 lower suspension bolts on the damper, remove them and take note of the order the parts go on the top mount.

once again refit the same as removal

Ok you're both freaking me out!! LOL

Spring compressors? Where can I get these from and are they essential to the fitting of these coilies?

JO3,

If you get yours done, feel free to come round and help me ;)

That really does sound EASY!

Erm... its a shame you live in Scotland! arghhh!!

Just want these done so bad!! Its like getting a new toy and not being able to play with it!!! It just sits there staring you in the face!

lol yeah it really is easy but if your not confident doing it then a garage will probably do it for 2hrs labour! so your looking £60-£80 max

So do the brakes then fit on to the new suspension whatever?

LoL I am such a n00b!

I'd say if your not 100% confident then don't do it tbh, i'd chuck them on for you no problems but still a way away.

all you need is some spring compressors.

you wont need spring compressors for coilovers as your not taking the standard shocks apart just removing and fitting the new ready assembled ones
Top mounts need to be swapped over with these though don't they?

Myself and a friend are going to have a stab at it later today...

I am baffled!

where abouts are u?

its pretty easy to do, if ur not sure thought dont risk it... could all go wrong!

I live in the UB1 postal area. Not far from Ealing tbh!!

Mate of mine has coilies and he has some idea of what he's doing, so I shall be playing assistant!

Will keep you guys updated. Pray for me!!

ermmm... also going to be using the fubar guide!!!

Any more tips, please post!! Will keep checking this thread!

Oh and hopefully it won't rain!

miles away from me then, im at the other end of the central line to ealing otherwise i would of offered to help

Ok erm...

FITTED.

BUT...

The tracking is now WAY out! I have to hold it like 45 degrees anti clockwise!

Also... errrm.... well I got the coilies from a user on here (collected them from Newcastle on tuesday this week, drove a total of 800 miles in a day!). And erm... I can't lower / raise them!! They are STUCK! Tried and tried with the C spanner! He said they've only been used a year!!! Any ideas of how I could get them to loosen up? Tried WD40... no joy!

Anyways, fitted all round blah blah and the fronts seem fine (apart from major tracking required).

BUT the rears are pretty bad :(.

They sound like they are at war with my bodywork! Every little bump is a loud KNOCK!

Any ideas?

Have to admit though, the ride is great, body roll has been abolished!!! Honestly its a very firm ride and very stiff, but it feels so much more sporty and looks the dogs b****cks!

edit: will post pics when I get em off the cam!!

Thought the adjusters would be siezed when I saw the pics, if those are a year old then they didn't hold up very well and aren't made the best. Will be a pig to free them off now but it may be possible may not be. Tracking is normal if its slammed to the weeds it'll want doing.

WD isn't a releasing oil so trying a proper penetrating/releasing fluid will be a good start other than that it'll take a lot of persistance basically. They may be siezed on solid and you won't be able to free them off though, if you do get them freed off when you reassemble use lots of coppaslip on the threads which should make it easier to adjust them later on.

Tbh the adjusters wanted sorting before they went on the car really. Knocking on the back could be a few things, how low is it at the back? Are the dampers ok?

Hey mate, thanks for the reply.

Still no luck with the adjusting of the springs, seized still but will try and try again!

Took the back shocks off again and changed the rubber bits that go at the top to some better quality ones. Popped it all back in place and voila! No knocking sound now, and it is great!!

Car still needs tracking, but I'll get that done tomorrow.

Rear of the car is sitting about 1cm above the top of the tyre (I think) and fronts will knock the bumper off if I'm turning and hit a bump!

Just want to be able to adjust these now so I can get em just the way I want.

All good though, no body roll, havent noticed squeaks, and the ride is firm!

Will update with pics soon!!

Thought the knocking would either be top mounts or it being too low, so easy sorted there. The front adjusters will either come with persistance or be fecked i'm afriad and theres only one way to find out.

Kind of defies the point of getting coilies!! LOL

I shall persist and break them in to mobility!!!

Does indeed but i've seen some where the collars have had to be cut off and replaced, not sure how you go about getting replacements though if it comes to that. Would imagine fk can supply.

Now thats an idea for worst case scenario!

Thing is, whats the likelihood of all 4 coilies being seized up!? Odd!

  BMW M135i
Rears look better but you can't really tell just from pics, theres only one way to be sure! Get stuck in ;).

just drive to rentech in portsmouth,,, i go there for all my work, and i live in enfield/north london. :)

Ok we have a problem!!!

went to get the tracking done and they said its not tracking its the camber?

They tyres look like this:

/ /

They said I need to go to Feltham Tyres and get a 4 wheel alignment.

Called them and they said you can't do that on a Clio! And it may not be fixable!!!

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

  Honda. Tesla Someday
*sighs*

these coilies are taking over my life!!

Ok, so if by some miracle I get the things moving and I can adjust them, then I should raise them and that may solve the issue. Right ok.

Other than those bolts from k-tec, and raising the car, is there any other way to solve this problem?

I've seen Clio's REALLY low, and havent seen them having these issues. A friend of mine has coilies on his Clio and his is lower than mine, and he had no issues.

My coilies are cursed!!

hmmm ave just fitted mine yesterday, i seem to be having trouble though because ive adjusted/lowered it to a certain point on one side and it wont move anymore.. it reverses back but wont go lower... might need to jack it up abit then whack it with the hammer when the adjuster tool thing is on it.. might just be tight.. i dunoo
