are they any good? Not as much power made as the Jenvey units i've heard......

Aye, but how do they look, go,whats my question  Never seen a set other than the prototypes's BenR had.

I can see one major downside to these ktec bodies and its that the air going into the ITB's is goin to be red hot due to the fact that they are right in front of the radiator and have got no real airflow into them. I love them and everything and they look brilliant but its very minimal gains for 2.8k plus fitting. Omex have them on one of there cars as they developed them to start with and only had an increase of 20 bhp which seems small to me. maybe my expectations are high but that seems quite minimal for the money.

Shorter rad is an option in the future though to keep the OE type theme. With an airbox there and some heat sheild on the rad where the bodies are, I cant see them being any worse off.

OMEX developed the Jenvey short trumpets? I dont think so.

no but omex developed the kit for ktec. For real power gains the recommend Shorter rad and slam panel removal and loss of aircon. Youd have to do this to get the longer trumpets on the ktec kit. They told me this today themselves. Call andy at omex if you like.

You dont need to remove the slam panel, thats the point.

The Jenveys are normal Jenveys with short trumpets.....Or am I missing something?

They are jenveys with little trumpets but like i said the gains are very minimal for 3k plus. The only way to get real power from ITB's is to go the whole hog. Sucking all that hot air in from the rad cant be good

Lol. Yeah, shorter rad and some heat shielding. You cant see any of it and you get a big fat opening for cold air whilst still retaining the slam panel.

I find it hard to believe that K-tec needed OMEX to "develop" some shorter trumpets! I have some 30mm trumpets for some DCOE 40's in the loft, I wonder if OMEX "developed" those too?

No OMEX didnt develop the trumpets. I didnt say that. I said they developed the whole kit. brackets and all. the use jenveys bodies with short trumpets and they have developed the rest of the kit for ktec to sell. Ive been talking to them about it for the last week. Im even going out in OMEX's 182 on thurs with this kit on :)

What brackets do you need other than an off the shelf Jenvey kit with shorter trumpets?

brackets for throttle cable, pedal mods for throttle cable, wiring harnesses, preprogrammed omex piggyback ecu, all sensors etc etc. they have made it so you can buy it in box and fit it all yourself.

The Jenvey kit come with a linkage though? The pedal mod is available off the shelf at Renault (Albeit a crude plastic bracket) Other than the piggyback, you could just buy an off the shelf OMEX and loom and get OMEX to pre-map it.

I'm sure there's a really obvious explanation and i'm being an idiot, so forgive me :)

I know it'll not be as efficient airflow wise but could you have trumpets that curved up a bit giving them a little more length and hopefully some cooler air once an airbox/filter is on there?

M

You can but they'd have to be custom as AFAIK and even then the airbox would be squashed by the bonnet, theres nothing on the market like that. I know Jenvey used to make plastic C trumpets for use on engines where the inlet manifold is on the back as it kept the inlet length for torque and you could use a plenum and air feed design as a pose to a foam filter.

Could cut a slot out the bonnet and have them poking up and out :p Like thingys old valver on ITBs that had that strip cut out of the bonnet :)

Martin? Yeah but the bonnet on a valver protrudes down the front of the car ;)

I'll find a pic of the curved Jenvy trumpets for you.... Hang on....

yeah thats what i was told. Makes 186 bhp with the ktec itb kit on. It only made 166 when it was a standard car.

you should see more bhp than that :S

Yeah thats what i thought but its not im afraid. I received the email this morning from them regarding the whole kit as im very interested but when i found out it only makes 20 bhp more than a standard car. i couldnt ever, ever justify 3k for 20 bhp. aint worth it. Thats the figures he gave me. 166 standard- 186 with short trumpetted jenvey kit. I mean dont get me wrong, i LOVE the kit but.......

All the Jenvey kits are the same, its the bits around them and the fitting that differ from company to company.

M
