Knock/bang, engine mount? ball joint? help

Right, when going along if i floor it for a second, lift up then floor it again i get a bang/knock, at first i thought it was the wheel being loose, but it wasnt, i then checked all the engine mounts and they were all tight (vibra technics and polybush) sot hat was eliminated, ball joints are good to.
Now im convinced its on the left (passenger) side, but i cant find anything, ive also noticed it doesnt happen in first or second, but is very noticable in third fourth fifth, so now im wondering if its a cv joint or maybe the gear box, anyone had anything like this before? how do i rule the box or cv out? the gaitors are good.

Check your wheel nuts are all ok, and double check that none are cross-threaded!
I had similar symtoms to that with 2 cross-threaded wheel nuts, leaving about 1 or 2mm for the wheel to vibrate when you came off the pedal and make a loud banging noise - awesome craic when they broke in the hub lol :D

Failing that, also check your topmounts maybe?

i was going to say top mounts, also if your going down the drivetrain route doubt you would get a loud bang from a gearbox, pull the n/s shaft out and make sure the inner joint is complete, also any play in the wheels? holding it left/right and top/bottom.

How long has it been doing it? How long have you owned the car?

When I got mine, someone had fitted a 10mm nut balljoint to it, after a few months in a 12mm hole, this worked loose.

When either braking or throttling, it banged, just once.

If you tighten up the nuts on one of the balljoints (they should be tight as fcuk so if they're loose you know) and it stops for a bit, then this may have happened to you too.

I've had the car for 3 years! mk1 clio, took the F7R out, put the F4R in, fropped it off to be mapped when i picked it up it was doing this. I've had the cross threaded wheel nuts before so made sure they were fine!, ill check the ball joint bolts but i didn't have that before.
I parked the car with the hand brake up tight and tried to pull away in first while a friend watched the engine (trying to rock the engine) and it was solid, this leads me to believe its something attached to the wheel, dont have a spare shaft to try :(
