Knocking/Tapping Noise Under Acceleration

Hi,

Since having my starter motor changed a few weeks ago, my car (Clio 172 phase 2) has developed a knocking noise under hard acceleration in 1st gear, but only in 1st.

It sounds like the wheels are spinning (but they're not) and the TC/ESP is kicking in. When I turn ESP off though, it still does it.

I had this a while ago before my engine dropped a valve. After an engine change, this noise was gone. Did the noise disappear because the engine was changed for a healthy one, or is it more likely because the engine was refitted properly?

The garage needed to take the exhaust manifold off (is this right?) to fit the starter motor. Could it just be a case of the exhaust manifold hitting the heatshield, causing the noise?

I don't think it matches either.

It's like a repeated banging/knocking when pulling away hard in first. Like a pulsing sound...

Will they have touched that when fitting the starter motor?

Should I take it back to the garage that fitted my starter motor and see what they say?

I've made sure the dogbone is tight and I've also tightened the main top engine mount (was loose) while pulling the engine forward. If anything though, it's made it worse.
Dan@SJM could I bring this to you to diagnose? Is there anything else I can try first?

Just a but worried because last time I had this, my engine blew up a few weeks later... Maybe just a coincidence lol.

Definitely sounds mount related. Mine sounded similar and was gearbox mount under the battery.
