One of my lady friends goes camping to scargill reeth quite often. I've been with her once before but that was in a friends saxo vtr, I didn't think to do a write up... although I didn't think to do a write up with the clio untill half way through the trip... Anywho...
Scargill reeth. I'm not sure if this is a real campsite or just a farmer with some excess land willing to take money off anyone wanting to pitch.
Early Sunday, after a late shift on saturday night -_- I went to pick up my dads camping gear, and to get my friend and his gear then off to asda to buy food and meet up with the rest of the group because I don't really know the way .
Strangely, there was no arch scraping :rasp:
^^ three people and 4 nights worth of camping goodies in one little clio
I forgot how bad the track to get into the field was, I didn't get any pictures of it but it was dug up from lots of tractor tracks so yeah, I had to take a lot of time to not scrape :dapprove:
I have to say, Rokkor coilovers are a great all round product, they're not too harsh even on a field
Now, the most important part of any camping trip is the music... who needs an ipod dock when you have 6x9's
They gave awesome sound quality with the boot open, it was surpisingly quiet from the outside with the boot closed too... who said 6x9's were s**t? :rasp:
Crappy iPhone pano
Can't go camping and not have a fire
I've wanted to go for a blast along this road since I went in my mates vtr last time and couldn't resist taking some piccies
This one had potential
I kinda like this one; it looks like its an old photo thats been scanned
I was shitting it on the drive up to here but it was soooo much fun
Excellent view
The 16 ounce tanhill burger
The drive back was somewhat unnerving... pitch black with rabbits and feasants darting across the road. If anyones doing a drive like this I would strongly reccommend following someone, it helps the fun; you know where and when to break and turn and accelerate etc. It's really got me wanting a track day.
We went to high force the next day, again an awesome drive, theres one very very sharp bend that my friend took a little too fast and she's so lucky that there wasnt an oncoming vehicle.
We were greeted with a warning that there would be no admittance to the top of the falls because some poor man died there late last year.
some unhappy beggar on the left spoiling me and my mate posing
Sheeps piss very nice brew if I do say so
While my mates went to barnard castle for a kebab, I made a nice large fire not realising I threw a bag containing oil on the pile.... oh how it went up
I had one bar of petrol before we left, I put £35 of petrol in so i reckon that amounted to about £40-£45 in all, drove to the camp site, barnard castle, tan hill, high force, and a few random excursions and managed to have a bar of petrol left for the drive home... with some to spare :rasp:
I was lucky that it was great weather this week, although the nights were freezing the tents were boiling on the mornings when the sun hit
Thanks for reading.
oh. I strongly advise going to the golden lion in barnard castle if you stop by, steak meal for £6... how awesome ha
