Ktec 'Not So Stealth' System...

Hey guys. Have just bought a 172 cup which came with a ktec stealth cat back with silenced centre section... WTF
is that name supposed to be ironic?

if that is the silenced one then i do not want to find out what the loud one is like!
its ridiculous and I need to get a silencer bolted in.
Anyone know anywhere decent in Kent that will be able to so this without butchering it?

Stealth does not mean quiet, stealth means hidden tailpipe.

As for the rest, that's just Ktec

Not that I know of, is there an easy way to check? There right under the car on these aren't they? I'm used to turbo cars!

Matt is just very good in general mate.


The silenced stealths are quite quiet when they are new, but dont age fantastically from a noise point of view.

If its got a de-cat as stated above it will be loud, even my BTB stealth with a cat isn't the quietest tbh and thats with 2 large boxes!

I doubt it has a decat though cause that wouldn't pass emissions and there would have been a receipt with all the loads of paperwork I got.

I think my 172 has a KTec Stealth on it, it's pretty loud.

If you're hoping for quite, I think you bought the wrong car. Even new they weren't really quite.

yes they were. I can deal with a little noise just not the loudest car in the world. Its probably one of the 3 loudest cars ive owned and ive had probably 15+ performance cars with aftermarket exhausts.

The "stealth" name is definatly ironic mate as it is neither quite nor do they hide behind the rear bumper, and to be honest if you think your one is loud I had a stealth with no silencer in middle and a decat, on long journeys I'd wear ear plugs lol.

Search genuine clio 172 exhaust on eBay. There's a Renault garage in sussex that sells them cheap, iirc 90 for a rear box, 133 for a centre section. Then sell the stealth. You won't be out if pocket by much, and you'll enjoy the car 100% more.

I've had a ktec stealth for years it was relatively quiet 86db and not boomy on the motorway. I did thousands of motorway miles with it. Only time it was boomy was up hills.

Been there and done it (twice) lol


I bought one when they first came out, binned it after a fortnight. Then I bought a cup with one fitted. Again f**ked it off after buying a nice new o.e system. Honestly mate it'll be the best thing you'll do. Nothing aftermarket gets near to o.e sound levels.

actually ran my standard system decatted. Adds a bit of rasp!

Honestly just do what I said. Most aftermarket systems don't gain f**k all power wise anyway. De cat it and you'll gain on a 172 ( it's where the 182 gained a few ponies from)

Ok think I will. On eBay they are selling standard centre and back for around £230+postage.
Should be able to sell the ktec for similar? Then just pay for the fitting...
Might get a decat on there too...although there's only 4-5months till mot time.
