Ktec remaps??

  Renault Clio182 bean
This may be a daft question but if a bought a Renflash tool from Ktec racing and chose the remap file: Cat back exhaust system with panel filter (2) upon purchase, could I then add the Crackle map on top of that so in effect have the performance map and the crackle map on my ecu at the same time? or does it have to be one or the other?:S Thanks in advance

I would probably have a search about ktec maps before doing anything.

You'll get better and safer results by using rstuning in Leeds, mwm in Staines or ecotune in Glasgow.

Google Fastchips and just buy an RStuner kit. There's a 1001 threads on here about it so use the search bar. Generally the pops & bangs map/crackle map is a generic map with added overrun on top. So you don't run two different maps at once ha!

Im lead to believe that putting some of syria's chemical warheads into your car is safer than a k-tec rermap.

Oh dear, are Ktec that bad? I haven't had any dealings with them myself, maybe I should get it set up/mapped on a rolling road and have the overrun added in aswell then, ktec sell them as two separate maps/files on there site.

I thought it was just the custom maps that were s**t tbh. The generic/set maps are fine i believe. But no, if you flash crackle, then you wont have the other map as well. crackle will probably be the same map though with just a bit more overrun like rstuner.

Some of there maps are ok. but when they set it up on a rolling road there terrible.
Also why do you want the crackle map?

I had my Ktec map checked by Mike Woodford a couple of weeks back, and he actually said it was one of the best he'd seen from them. Maybe he'll pop along to post an image of the log.

Ive got a TomTom map of Western Europe you can put onto your ecu if you like, would be no worse than the offering from K-Tec.

Here's a graph of the power it made with it on, gained 30bhp iirc.

To answer the actual question, the map will be a complete file, so if you put one on then put another on, the first will have been replaced with the second and hence no longer be there.

The "crackle" map or any form of "pops and bangs" map is likely to negatively impact engine life if you spend a lot of time with it doing its chavvy thing in a big way as those sounds are NOT the sounds of things going well inside your engine.

Personally if I was in the market for a generic map, I would go with the RS Tuner one, you can get this with added pops and bangs if you really feel you need those in your life, although as Im sure you can tell from my tone I personally think its a bad idea TBH, but then I am very old etc.
RS Tuners the vast majority of people get good results from, IME with Ktec maps its the opposite so Id never recommend them to anyone, their AFRs are all over the place generally speaking (very lazy mapping) and they frequently use what I personally consider to be highly incorrect ignition values, and the knock sensor on datalogged cars with their maps on also agrees with me on that.

Have a look in Kyles thread to see the standard of Ktec's work, there is an AFR trace that they supplied to a customer to show him how good they thought his map was, its like a fecking map of the alps!

Get an RS Tuner or take it to RS Tuning in Leeds (depending where in the county you are). These two names are nothing to do with each other btw

Lol I just put my flame suit on, I know pops and bangs are seen as chavvy, but I quite like the sound of a nice pop on gear change . What can I say I am a big kid, I wouldn't sit in McDonald's car park revving it though:rasp:, just one for me to enjoy when out on the twistys ;). Thanks for all the reply's guys.

Indeed. Your generic map from K-Tec was absolutely spot on! Couldn't fault it if I tried.

Sadly. Your car is the only one I can say that about though.
