You sir - are officially f**king awesome. :hail:

No doubt some people on here stuck in 2005 will state that their current console cost the same as the box that that mobo comes in. Balls to 'em. Following that philosophy, we'd all be cheering our black & white TVs as being 'good enough'.

Inbreds....

LOL Darren, I spent a lot on my machine back in 2008, and Joe blogs has a 2600k for peanuts which pretty much does the same thing. 3 years on ain't bad for me ;)

Yes Dave it's a processor and motherboard

Intel Core i7-3960X
Corsair Vengeance 32GB
EVGA 580 GTX SLi

What are you using the WD Green's for, m8? Just general storage? We've had major issues with those at work - failing for fun, pretty much. They seem to have quite a lot of known errors with certain RAID controllers too. The WD Black's are much better, I've found.

32GB = hero spec. I recently nabbed 12GB at a decent enough price and simply left my original 6GB in there. Even with 18GB in there (including 2GB OS reserved) - some games can chew on 35% of memory.

that looks sweet!

2 sets of memory slots is just awesome, it looks like a pretty well thought out board to be honest and i bet that set you back a few quid!

But can it play crysis on maximum settings?

Board can take 64gb if you wanted to go crazy. The WD Green is something I've had for awhile, just back end storage.. It's actually not internal, it's in an ESATA caddy

have a car accident then

Said with love obviously, don't get hurt x
;)

Waiting on the screws to mount the EK block...will probably rip my machine apart tonight

  Evo 5 RS
I bought it last month as it was on offer, also I thought the 2011 compatibility would be nice to have in future. Found out now that OCUK were being cheeky fckers as it's not compatible at all, not without buying the mounting kit separately

  Turbo'd MX-5 MK4
Where did you order them from? EKWB direct? I notice a lot of people on my PC forum seem to be sporting different types of screws (different styles/colours)

  Evo 5 RS
These ones are actually wrongly manufactured. Theyve release new ones since so might be that those are all black. You cans till use these though, as I just have. You just need to use the 2.5mm stand offs under the springs to compensate. EK reckon some plod at the factory put in the wrong peramaters. Bought them from special tech. Now having difficulty with windows 7 not letting me install to the raid partition. Early adopting components sucks lol.

I've rebuilt my machine more times this year than I care to remember, thankfully I finally seem to have got it where I want it.

Have to admit as much as I fancied playing with this tonight I could of done without refilling the loop and now installing OS :(

  Evo 5 RS
Managed to get the OS sorted last night but was knackered so went to bed. Managed to do a few HDD benches this morning for the vertex 3 raid to see what speeds I was getting on the new ICH controller

640mb/s minimum

1040mb/s maximum, so it's saturating the bus

Overclocking time now

Yes we know some people make do with 5 year old s**t boxes, but Garaths machine at heart is 3 year old tech - and is still more than capable of playing everything

It's what you're used to though, if you don't know any better you'll always make do I've found. Sometimes when I'm playing Forza I can't even make out what I'm looking at. Sometimes ignorance is bliss, I know whats inside the 360 and from a technical stand point it's f**king hideous. If you're going to do something then do it properly ;). Once the 720 comes out you'll be glad, as games will start to look a lot better again.

The Xbox360 architecture is great; it's just full of ageing technical hardware and a severe lack of memory. If PC's could perform the same number of draw calls per frame as a console then PC games and cutting-edge PC hardware would be even more impressive than it already is.

On a separate note - awesome specification mate. Love it. :D

  Evo 5 RS
Not really a baller mate, I've touched sweet F.A so far, all profiles are set to auto.. not touched any voltages..XMP profile set and multi at 46.. lol

Looks nice, hero motherboard!

What cooling do you have in place? I'm running the older i7 950 @ 4.2ghz daily, currently idle around 46c due to wanting no noise :D (plus GPU is in loop).

Hopefully will have the cash soon for an upgrade, seen ATI are bringing out the new flagship cards soon?
