its taken me about six months to get this far, had a bloke phone me today saying he has one. im calling him again tomorrow to arrange payment just wish it could have been a couple of weeks earlier as i think there may be a few renaults at rwyb on sunday after the national day. But hopefully it wont be long before she is in and running. One question what chip shall i have its my 1.8 head going on so hillpower chip or some other?

You could probably run it on a standard chip, but hill power could do you one. are they doin the work?

Unichip is better but are like £400

im getting nick to skim the head clean it up fit it to the block then i am going to fit it then need a chip putting in then setting up so i was thinking of getting nick to chip it

also i might sound thick as sh*t but is the F7R a 2.0 only they didnt make any other cc did they as my luck has just been totally cack with this

Yes the F7R was only a 2.0. The F7 is the engine family and the R refers to 2.0 capacity. Following this naming, the 172 engine is an F4R - one of the F4 family of multivalve engines and its a 2.0. P refers to 1.8 hence the 1.8 16v was F7P.

You should get it chipped as soon as possible.... It will be driveable, but not a 100%... (in the high revs!!) Been there done that! And you dont want to ruin your new motor!!! I did .... F7R bottom end, floved and ported head with cams, lightened and blue printed bottom end, totally ruined.. not enough fuel...

Yeah, if you use the 16V chip with the 2.0 bottom end the fuelling will be all over the shop. I was going to post my ECU to HillPower to have the chip fitted before firing up what was going to be my 2.0, sniff sniff.:(

i have my 1.8 ecu with a hill power chip in but i have had a exhaust system since i had that fitted would a better option be to get a willy ecu and get that chipped and sell my 1.8 ecu
