leaking selector seal, gearbox leak fix

No. I've looked around. The later type appears to have a removeable pin like the short shift kits on ebay but I could be talking utter balls. I only came across it as a problem because I went nuts trying to figure out why my boot was such a tight fit and where a cable tie would even go. I'll have a look on dialogys in a mo.
If I'm wrong and the pin in mine is actually removeable I'll be over the moon! I was told it wasn't in a thread ages ago.

What number is the item your needing? And what gearbox model is it?

Cup gearbox so a 129 I think. I just want the bit with the pin as I replaced the linkage that fits into the nylon bush and the nylon bush but couldn't get a straight answer from Renault as to wether I would get the same parts as is on the car if I ordered number 7 which on this picture is quite different!
If I click on 7 I get an old 7 type part No. and a new 8200 type part number.

I'll hazard a guess that they're possibly universal or superceded by a better design. Give me all the numbers off your box and I'll have a word with my Renault man. He's s**t hot tbh. :up:

Just checked the bush you posted pics of and it does appear mine is wobbly! Very wobbly indeed so I assume that's where my play is coming from, are these parts expensive and where is the best place to get them from? Thanks!
Also, my leak is coming from the mapco seal

Renault Wolverhampton is the place for the items you need mate, but I can't comment on the price of them as it's not something I've bought.Just checked the bush you posted pics of and it does appear mine is wobbly! The seal I'm on about is the original type that requires the box stripping. Easy when you know how, just time consuming.

Just fitted one of these kits, and straight away o rings seemed too loose, and no resistance that is talked about... I did lubricate the seals though.
however, selector shaft is still leaking
Do I need a new kit again? or can I replace the o rings for better fitting ones?

I'd try fitting tighter fitting o rings first mate.Hi,

The plastic housing was a tight fit.
O rings themselves was not a loose fit on selector shaft.
The problem I think is they just wasn't thick enough... When I assembled the housing around them there wasn't any feeling I was compressing the o rings around the shaft... Further confirmed by the lack of any real resistance talked about.. Although as mentioned I did use gearbox oil to lubricate the seals.
And now it's still leaking.
Actually a bit embarrassing because it's a customers car, and I've been recommending the kit to fix this problem... And now I've fitted it, it's still leaking... Not a cheap kit either!
So in that sense I am a bit disappointed. Was expecting great things and instead just continued leaking.
Will see if I can get the plastic housing out in 1 piece again... Then if I can head down to somebody like a hydraulic specialist to see if they have better fitting o rings.
This particular gearbox has a spring on the selector anyway so resistance problems should be minimal.

Mines been seeping a lot since fitting this kit How bad on a scale of 1-10 is it to run a car without gearbox oil? I need to fix it asap but i'm not sure how without it costing the earth (box out etc)

On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being the worst and 10 being not so bad, I'd safely say it's a 1 mate. I can do the seal for you if you want, but it's 100% a box out job mate as you are aware.Mines been seeping a lot since fitting this kit

The more frustrating thing is that to change the seal with the box out only takes about 40 minutes!! I may have another solution to the problem that I'm looking into though!

Yeah no problem mate.
The kit shluld work... It is a sound design.
Hydraulics use rubber o rings to seal things.
Problem is a quality issue rather than design issue.
Design is sound but due to inconsistencies in the the seal thicknesses and the depth of the housing where the seal sits there is sometimes enough seal compression on 1 kit and not enough on others as its a borderline fit.

Yeah I agree mate. It's just a shame that I've seen more of these kits fail than succeed.

I can't leave it like that in my case it's a customers car.
Just wish I knew before hand that more fail to seal than work... All I saw online was how good the kits were and people recommending them.

Yeah strip the box and replace the seal and bushes mate. It's the only way to do it and fix it properly. None of this TND bodge s**t.

I used this "kit" for the repair of the selector gear. Seal is leak no more, but is now cannot shift. Orings and plastic cup go inside nicly. Only little tap with ruber hammer. Shifting stick only now can mowe in way 1-2, 3-4. Left to right only direct on the gear boks with the hammer or screw driver. So if I want to go in revers, must set from ground revers... And than driving with 3-4.
Im little sory that I didn't saw the rod and weldin back and use original seal. Unscrew the gearbox I rather buy other car... ?
In my country, none have expirience with kit... What I can do? Is possible that oring mowe some how?
