Been busy this weekend. So started off yesterday by changing the ABS sensor that's been playing up. Damn they are tight, ended up banging the s*it out of it with a hammer and wood chisel to brake it out lol. This is what was left of the old one once i got it out....
It was fair to say to say the corrosion had welded it in. I had to dremel away some of the corrosion to get the new sensor in. But that's all fitted and working now, which means for the first time in 6 months i have no warning lights on the dash
After that i moved onto fitting some K-tec solid suspension top mounts i had as i've never been a fan of the standard ones.
Engine bay could really do with some TLC, but saving that untill i have some VHT paint. Once that was done i gave the outside a quick wash down as the car looked like i had been 4x4ing then it started raining lol so never got the chance to dry it. Come back to it this morning now the rain had stopped and got some photo's before i started fitting the cage.
I then cracked on with fitting my half cage, i thought i'd try and be cleaver and just remove the seats off the side mounts and leave the subframes in (hate going under car..) but i soon realised the cage was that tight it wasn't going to be that easy...
So the subframes had to come out anyway. I then wiggled the cage in, i must say it's a perfect fit, very happy, with all the interior plastics and head liner still in it was dead tight, got it in and into position.
Fixed it down with M8 (i think 8.5mm drill bit was dead tight with these) high tensile nuts and bolts. Subframes back in, quick hoover around...
Seats in...
Harnesses on the new harness bar.
K-tec boot mat put in place, couldn't use this before as the harness' were fitted to the floor, much neater inside the car now.
I then trimmed the bolts down under the car and sprayed black to prevent corrosion, will use proper under body sealer at some point but this was just to do for now. I intended on using the strengthening plates on the rear archs but they needed bending the fit this just seemed a much easier way with some big washers. I'm not too fussed as i doubt the car will ever see any track action.
More to come soon
