i see no real point unless your running some serious power, though i suppose everything helps

This is my friends, we had to lift the bonnet as the under bonnet temps were crazy, though he is running a V6 with 2 turbo's lol

My brother does it on the Punto GT and says temps generally stay lower. He only does it when he goes on track though.

do you just stick some washers between the bonnet and the hinges to raise it up or is it done another way?

Washers or blocks under the hinges, simple as that.

I considered it just for looks (maybe I will consider it again after seeing this lol). Only got a 1.2 so doubt it'd make a difference. Kinda looks like you've been in an accident if it's not done right though :/

Looks $hite on a Clio.

Looks good on tuned, air-cooled Beetles and cars with BIG power.

I think it's mainly a fashion thnig on clios really.

Owners of old skool tubro'd cars have been doing it for years (for good reason)

It'll be the new fad on soon imo, fair play if you actually need it, 99% of people don't though.

This has now been fixed. It was never done to reduce engine bay temperatures, can't say it made a difference as I never tested it. It was a buckled bonnet and the only way to make it look normal around the lights was to raise the back up...

Did mine like that, lasted about 4-5 weeks until i got pulled for numerous reason, and the copper said " What would happen if you run someone over if the bonnet is like that" i was like urmm, obvious the person would go over the car realisticly ffs, but i ended up with a £30 fine :)

Not a fan tbh, looks a little like you've rear ended someone :dead:

Are the retaining lugs still engaged on the trailing edge of the bonnet once youve done that?

Wel i got a fine for:

-HAving a raised bonnet
-rear lights to dark
-small numberplate

but i got a warning and they were keeping a check on me until i sorted them, couple days later on the way to work i got pulled by the same copper and was orderd to take car back home, and if he saw it like that again on the road he would take it away from me  he was a tw@t tbh,

Definatly helps keep under bonnet temps down on turbo cars and the like.

My old 220gsi Turbo would run real hot till i did this. Not really worth it on a N/A Clio though.

Just in case the tow truck guy can't find the big black tow eye on the front when you land in that gravel trap, and you're dead so can't show him?
lol its only on there because it fits in with the colour theme i have on the car. not to every ones taste i know but hey, you cant please every one so i just please myself (that sounds wrong lol).

If you do this, be potentially prepared for oil/heat to spew up the windscreen when you're driving.

And definitely be prepared for no end of 'oi mate, you've left your bonnet up!'
