I thought they were 17mm tbh chip on the Clio but I'll stand corrected. Either way to open it up to 17mm isn't an issue though. The only bit that concerns me is the extra leverage adding to the elongation issue. This is what I've been discussing with my machine shop. We possibly have a solution but it would need to be tested.

But as with everything, it's gotta be worth a go! After all, I got told the hub mods wouldn't work and look where that's at now!

My solution would just be to weld it mate. Not going to oval then. (And hubs are cheap to come by)

piece of cake to modify the standard subframe. Just weld the hole up and red or weld on new tabs with the hole further out if you run out of material.

I suppose doing it that way you could modify it for a bit of caster at the same time.

Yeah that's fair enough. I wouldn't personally have them welded on, but it's worth a go.

Id just view it as permenantly altering those hubs to only suit a lowered car.

He has a 182 full fat (so both cup packs), or you are talking about the 172 cup subframe which is supposed to be wider than a 182 cup subframe?

Yeah the 172 frame which i believe is the one with the widest bottom arm mounting points.
