Lots of movement in gear stick when backing off???

I have suspected that my engine mounts may be a little shonky ever since I bought the car. It is due for its 48k service shortly at which time it will be getting new discs, pads, plugs, belts etc. but I want to nip this exhaust knocking, gearstick shaking issue in the bud at the same time.

Basically, I don't get any (noticeable) knocking/axle tramp on acceleration. I do get an exhaust knock when I start the car (could obviously be the w@nk exhaust) and when accelerating and backing off, the gear stick visibly jerks.

Are these signs of shoddy mounts, which should I replace or should I try adjust them?

cheers guys and gals.

All mounts Fred? What are the costs involved and anyone know part numbers or can I use GSF?

Just use Renault stuf infact you can just change the bushes as thats all that wears on them for hard stuff cheaply.

Dogbone is £40 engine £45 or so.
Cheers Edde. I take it that is £45 just for one mount? Do you have any part numbers for each engine mount and costs if possible?

there just incase as i thought mine had gone and i could shake the whole side of the engine round after buying i went to fit and the garage hadnt bolted the top mount in hence it moving about so i bolted it up and its fine- i know there common for failing especially when having an uprated bottom mount (which i do) so there gathering dust until a knock arrises again

I'll try an adjustment then fellas and take it from there. From what I gather, uprated dog bones are not recommended due to movement transfer to other mounts?
