Low-cost heal-and-toe mod...

I'm sure there are people who find the pedal spacing in the 182 perfect for heal-and-toe work, but I'm not one of them (size 9UK feet). Basically, the accelerator is too low in comparison to the brake pedal. So, I'd been thinking about how to improve things, and after a quick butcher's at the pedal area, I came up with a pretty simple solution: fit a washer/spacer behind the lower mounting point for the pedal body to alter the angle of the pedal and raise it up in relation to the brake pedal. Loosening the 3 nuts that hold the body to the bulkhead simply requires a 10mm socket. Loosen the two top nuts, remove the bottom nut and slip a washer over the bolt between the pedal body and the bulkhead. Simple! After trying a couple of washers I found a compromise between pedal height and keeping enough thread on the lower bolt. All fitted in about ten minutes and it makes a huge difference to how easy it is to heal-and-toe.

Red arrow shows the where to put the washer(s).

I used one of these spacers and an additional standard 1mm thick washer.

I like the idea, I find the 182 pedal is in a different position to the 172, IMO the acclerator on a 182 is to far away from the brake pedal.

Exactly my thoughts. Spacer at the bottom tilts it up and brings it closer to the level of the brake pedal. Works a treat!

I mean the gap between the pedal is to far, sideways, needs t be twisted nearer the brake IMO.

I thought they'd use the same or at least similar pedal box... but there's clearly a substantial difference. I love a bit of home grown modding- nice work!

Ah! In that case, you need the larger accelerator pedal that someone on here makes. Think it's Turner? I can manage with the horizontal gap, although I would prefer them to be a little closer.

yeah i'd like the bigger pedal, but don't have the stuff to fit it.

I was quite amazed at how much stuff is different on a 182 compared to a 172.

just need a better technique, i'm size 9 also, its easy peasy

Or maybe your pedals are a different spacing? Can't believe Renault's QC is so good that all cars leave the factory exactly the same. A few mm can make all the difference.

might give this a try as i have been trying to think of a way round this and this seems to be a good idea :)
oh ans as for the space between the pedals, couldnt you just bend the bar round a bit so its in the right position for you?

just buy some aftermarket pedals i.e. sparco that have the wide accelerator pedal at the bottom so you can heal toe easier
