Update

Not updated this in awhile as been so busy in Saudi and moving into a flat whilst I am home on leave. However added some new bits to the Clio.

Had the rear seats retrimmed to match the fronts. All I need now is to get the rear belts to match the fronts. Will do that when back again in August.

Also added carbon fibre door bullets
Was planning on doing the wing mirrors but weather has ended that idea for the moment.

Rear discs and pads were fooked after the trackday. To the point we only had the backing plate left which was bent from the piston pushing on it.

So they were replaced with CL+5 pads and Ktec black edition rear discs.

Also fitted my new gear knob and gaiter.

Stop wasting money and Meg engine it. R26 is a very easy swap and is the right ECU too.

Nah don't want to Meg it because if I wanted a turbo Renault I would buy a Megane R26R. There is plans in the future to get the newer Megane 275 cup but will have to wait and see.

Update time as it's getting nearer to me returning from Saudi for some well earned time off.

Whilst I have been away the Clio has been in the care of my older brother.
He has only driven it a handful of times however this should have kept it going until I get back.

The brakes are still monsterosly noisy with it still going through the bedding in process.
Hopefully a trackday on the 23rd @Snetterton will help them bed in a little bit further.
When I am back I can get my new AC radiatior fitted as well as a service and if they arrive in time a set of brake ducts that go in place of the fog lights.

Also I think I need to get it properly detailed before the trip to the Belgian F1 in a couple of weeks.

No Spoilers!

So I’m now back from Saudi after a few years away. I am now starting to tidy up the Clio after a few years of not really giving it the attention it deserves.

First on the list is to send the cup spoiler, roof trims and the carbon fibre spoiler ends to get repainted at Custom Exotics In Harlow.

Next on the list is a full oil change with a flush through.
Whilst my mate is doing that I will sort the problem of the bumper popping out at the sides.

There is so many things that need tidying up before the summer.

However the urge to go mental and do some major bits is tempting.

It's a no from me. Would add though, the primer grey colour of them doesn't help.

No they won’t be grey they will be the original white. It’s just the pic I took them from wasn’t that great.

Just had a read through this, lovely car. I look at these more and more as time goes on, would really like to add a 197 or 200 to the fleet. The re-trim is just spot-on.

Just fitted some of the 2009 model rear lights. I think that they look great on the car. Will be even better once I get the parts back from the paintshop.

Your car is looking stunning as ever.

I love that orange Ford Escort.
They also did a cool one in yellow too

So I’ve not posted in this for an age.
However some of you may know that my engine and gearbox were kaput.
So after getting a recon box from Pro Line motorsport my engine then decided that it had enough and shattered a big end shell and sent metal all the way through the engine.
I nearly parted ways with the car but I couldn’t let it go like that.
So I’ve got an engine coming that’s Been reconditioned and I’ve decided to add a few more upgrades.

I’ve added a performance oil cooler, port and polished inlet manifolds that are also painted to match the car.

my friends at Lussivo in Harlow also sorted out a colour change for my wheels and improved the black pillar wraps to something a lot better.

So bit of an update.
So after dealing with the utter useless mongs at Renparts and their 1000 excuses about the whereabouts of a replacement engine for my car.
I managed to get one off Mitch at Proline Motorsport.
Got my mate to give it a good look over and it seems to be in a healthy condition. My good mate Tom has started to put the Clio back together after nearly 7 months of not having the car.

I’ve also added a few extra parts including a new polished and painted inlet manifold, Pure Motorsport Exhaust and a HEL Oil cooler as the engine was out.
I’m also having a new set of Rotors for the brakes and a change from the Carbon Lorraine Pads to Ferodo Pads to see what they are like. Also some new top mounts and some new coolant hoses too.
This will for sure need to be mapped after Xmas as it’s no longer the original 197 but a 200 engine which from all accounts was a better engine from the 197 lump.

Great update mate :) hope you get it back in the road soon.

Renparts reputation is not good at the moment.

And the car looks so much better with the darker wheels :)

probably the worst customer service and company I’ve ever had to deal with. Wish I had done a bit more digging before getting involved with them. As I would have saved myself from the absolute stress that it put me under for 5 weeks that almost cost me my relationship with my missus and my family because of it. Never even got a formal apology from them either.

Update

Not updated this for bloody ages however have done some new bits to the car as well as having a few months of drama.

So first off A few months ago my car was parked in the works car park. Unbeknownst to me the Mac Man tool truck Had pulled up alongside my car. On exiting of his van his door had Been caught by a bit of wind and hit mine which put a massive dent into it. So bad that even my bro who is a paintless dent tech couldn’t even get it out.

So got a quote to repair it £1500 !! So it had to be an insurance claim which the Mac man claimed on his. Which weirdly had done me a bit of a favour as the door he hit had some poorly repaired and painted damage from a repair the owner before me had done.

I got the car repaired a couple of weeks ago after all that has been going on and a delay in getting the insurance to pay out.

I was worried the repair Centre would struggle with getting the colour right and getting the F1 decal. However they got the car absolutely spot on.

I’ve also had another couple of bits done by my good friends at Lussivo in Harlow.

I had some vinyl redone and also some Alloy wheel rim protectors to protect the edge of the wheels.

These are very subtle and unless you really looked you would struggle to see them at distance.

I’m really happy with them and how they came out.

Next on the agenda is a Remap.

Fantastic car and thread! Glad you didn’t part ways with the car after the engine trouble, although would have been understandable.

A liquid yellow F1 edition just looks so right!

Interior looks fantastic, agree it should have come from the factory like that. Can I ask who did the re-trim?

Cheers

Sooooooo it’s been over a year since I blew it up.
Today I’ve had the car In for a map at Engine Dynamics in Kelvedon.

Before it made 185bhp, then was mapped at RS tuning to 192bhp and now after all the work I’ve had done it’s now 210bhp which on stock internals is not too shabby at all !!

That is ace!! Was it just flowed inlets on a 200 engine or were there any other mods?

Maybe the Map causing an issue as it wasnt running right for a bit after the map.
spark plug and valve has put a nice big hole through a piston.
