LY R27 with Desire (very pic heavy)

Knuckles

ClioSport Club Member
This weekend was the first I've had free and decent weather so I jumped at the chance to give my car it's bi-annual cleanse and reprotection.

I stole my girlfriends fold out table as It makes a brilliant cleaning station :o

AAA6B1EC-80E6-4ECB-92B4-6C03FF5D0641_zpslmdy4bhd.webp

I didn't take any befores as it looked how it did in most of my other cleaning threads.

First up was Auto Finesse Citrus Power. It's a brilliant product and I don't think I could be without it any more. I usually rinse the whole car prior to application but this time I thought I'd try it on half of the car with the surface dry.

While this was working, I started on the wheels with AutoGlym Clean Wheels... It's nothing impressive, I only used it because I forgot I had a litre and a half of wonder wheels hot wheels.

Thanks to the application of tough coat a while ago, CW didn't have much work to do.

I continued on to pressure wash CP off.

Wet half, left a bit behind.

Dry half, surprisingly took a bit more off.

But I wouldn't recommend this in warm weather, I can see it drying on and being a waste.

Onto Auto Finesse Lather

F8BBF534-BE9C-4058-9F3A-6F8AEEB47788_zps1he0cbrv.webp

I got a bit carried away so didn't get any pictures of its foamy goodness. It's such a lubey shampoo and foams up incredibly well. The smell isn't amazing but that's probably just me.

The remnants of Auto Finesse Spirit. Not bad considering it was applied in November! Am I right in thinking this is still protecting the paint?

Up next; TARdis... Stole some gloves from work as I'm sick of getting this and ironx on my hands.

Tar spots were isolated mainly to the doors behind the front arches, in front of the rear arches and odds and sods on the rear end.

Onto Iron x. Soooooo glad I had gloves. So very glad.

Surprisingly, not much iron fallout (compared to the last hit before applying Spirit). Very impressive protection over winter.

I then moved onto removing the last of the contaminants with some clay, I ran out of lube so used Auto Finesse Finale, such a nice smell.

1B78372A-CEFF-4A7D-A59C-EAC73A0C9BCF_zpsky8qirpn.webp

I was shocked at the state of the bonnet.

The rest of the car wasn't too bad so I skipped pictures.

Quickly dusted with Finale then rinsed with the pressure washed minus the lance.

Nice clean paint.

Showing the texture in Liquid Yellow beautifully.

After polishing and buffing it off I got the Auto Finesse Rejuvenate out to lay down a base for Desire.

B14D8170-381A-4A4F-9D49-8CDD68CC3357_zps3g0equ0c.webp

Now, rejuvenate has a smell and consistency of emulsion, couldn't shake the thought that I was sent the wrong bottle... But carried on anyway.

It's a very nice product to use, very easy on and off.

I was over the moon with the state of the paint.

Aaaaand @Auto Finesse Desire.

BEC1CD21-5DEC-4DAF-B7AF-367AF38A5986_zpsoexcrkn8.webp

Amazing smell, I preferred Spirit at first but after using it for a while this is much better.

I was very impressed at how far it spread. A tiny dab coated half the bonnet.

The only gripe I had with this was the inability to see where I had applied it. It became easier to see as the micro fibre became somewhat saturated.

It was very difficult to get photos of it curing, but here are my attempts.

While this was curing, I gave all the plastics a wipe down with IPA to set a good base for Revive.

Here is how much I used, one coat of desire vs three coats of spirit... I'm not sure if I went nuts with the spirit or whether desire spreads further.

I'll try and get some better afters one evening this week.

Couple of interior shots, still need to do this. And need a snappy retrim, but that won't be for a while

Looking good Knuckles! I love LY more and more every time I see someone post

I love tripple - posted a thread yesterday about Tripple & Tough Coat working well together: (here)

edit: just realised you've already seen the thread :P

Very impressive, I never knew you were into detailing. I wish my paint was good enough to be into it properly myself :dapprove:

Looks great the LY.

Cheers :) Truth be told I only got into it since getting this car, my last one wasn't worth the effort as it was so bad.

Is your paint curable with some elbow grease/ a machine polishing or is it too far gone to save?

Stone chips from the old owners mean it's not worth bothering with! I still wash/polish/wax and seal it but it's far from a show car!

Really impressed by the finish on the wheels from tough coat!, must invest in some

I must say I was impressed with it. I was told it wouldn't hold up to the temperatures. But as the hit of iron x showed, it kept the brake dust quite at bay. Same for tar as there was only a few spots about.

I like it it purely for the ease of application.

Looks lovely that.

Wouldn't using Rejuvenate after Tripple defeat the object of Tripple though? Thought it would be better going Rejuvenate>Tripple>Wax? Or does it not matter?

There is no real need for both, we use one or the other. However if you did want to try it go Tripple, Rejuvenate, Wax.

Also nice work overall with the detail Knuckles, and reflected in lovely pictures.

Thank you,

I knew rejuvenate would remove the protection and filler that tripple layed down, but wasn't tripple good to use to remove any marring caused by the clay, and to further cleanse the paint after the decontamination process?

or does rejuvenate do that all itself?

Perfect spec and Lovely looking car! I enjoy a good days detailing! :) Hope when it comes to it, I can find an R27 of this exact spec to replace my 172, such a brilliant looking car! Top work chap. :)

It certainly does no harm but at the same time not sure you will see much benefit with the two used that way around, Rejuvenate does have a light cut to it so would have done that job for you anyway. Still you know for next time now ;) with the time saved you could have done that interior :S

I did not know that, thank you

and lol! The interior isn't that bad! :rasp:

Looks lovely,

Bar those exhaust trims, take em off, polish up the slash cuts, jobs a goodun
