Major Problem...Urgent Help Needed!

Was driving along tonight with my girlfriend in the car, started to accelerate and heard a loud bang. Then the car sounded like a tractor and if I drive in first gear the gear stick comes really far back when I put my foot down.

Any suggestions?

I am absolutely gutted. Cant wait to chop it in for something with much better build quality and something far more reliable :dapprove:

Engine mount snapped?

Pulley failure?

Could be anything from what you've described

down on power? coil pack makes it sound like a tractor.

Yeah it is down on power but I cant drive in 2nd or 4th to be honest. Just 1st 3rd and 5th. It feels as if a mount has gone. If it's the engine mount how much am I looking at?

There is a high chance its a coil then they go alot.

There might be a problem with an engine mount too. My 1.4s gear stick moved alot.

Yeah this is coming way further back than usual. So I'm looking at a coil and engine mount. Any rough costs guys or?

Max £50 for parts from factors i would say.

The mount might have busted you gearbox to as where it is attached it is in the gear box. When you pulled away did you bring the clutch up to fast?

No not really, when I stop the car, the gearbox seems fine but it's when I'm driving. I hate my clio!!

lol when i had my 1.2 clio it was wet had metal pedals and pulling away from lights after jus getting in i heard a bang and couldnt see. what had happened was the mount had ripped out the gearbox casing and the passenger airbag came out i paped my pants whas so loud ha ha i swore never to buy another renault and now iam on my third lol and love it

defo engine mount simliar thing happened on my 306, took the driveshaft with it, and snapped the down pipe... cost me a fortune!! TBH you shouldnt be driving it, you'll only f**k it ALOT more!!

I brought it home but is going to the garage in the morning so have avoided driving it any further!

Rear engine mount had snapped and done a fair bit of damage to the exhaust and the mounts. Couple of hundred quid unfortunately
