Manifold to cat join

Last night my manifold to cat join decided to split in 2!

Have re-bolted it together, but now it sounds like there's a hole ther, it's blowing out of the join

Is there supposed to be a gasket or anything inbetween? I literally just bolted the 2 parts back together with the spring bolts

Sounds like you need a new cat fitting kit. £26 from Renault.

Thanks for that, just looked it up its obviously that wire mesh looking washer thing that im missing, so i'll get that ordered up!

Yeah the wire gasket should seal it. Presumably it fell out when it split.

Mind and dont put any exhaust paste on there, the fumes ruin the cat or soemthing so i've heard

If it's assembled properly with the correct springs etc it won't leak.

Thanks guys. One last question...

The wire gasket thing looks like it has a flat side and the other side is curved. Which side faces which when you fit it?

Curved side facing the cat or the other way?

It will probably be obvious when I pull it apart but as I never see the original i'd like to have a heads up so it goes together nice and quick now its freezing cold outside!
