Matched inlets

  Golf GTD Mk7
Mine are in the process of being ported out. I took them to CNC in stockport. Was talking to the guy who knows his stuff, and he was saying that there isn't actually much point in porting the lower part of the inlet manifold (bit that matches up to the head) unless you're getting the head itself done.

Agree or disagree with this??

I was going to get him to do it anyway, but then went back to the engine, placed the gaskets in the location to see what the accuracy was on the head itself. The gasket on the head is out as much as it is on the lower inlet. Surely when making the lower inlet ports bigger at the head end which comes into contact with the smaller opening at the head itself won't make any difference?

Correct me if i'm wrong guys :D

The head is ported quite well from factory, its the inlets that need doing to match up to it, a fair amount is taken off also.

would say the main gain in the process would come from removing the step between the manifold and head.

Mine are RS stamped, so the inlets weren't too bad at that end. Surely correctly matching up the plenum and inlet join (which were shocking) would make just as much difference?
