as said in the jdm thread here are some pics of the datsun. will be a project ill keep updated as it is a rare and unusual car so thought some of you might appretiate it. So far its had a complete engine rebuild and bored out to a 2.8, obviously floor pans etc have been changed due to inevitable rust but the old girl aint too bad. Its mot is this week and were waiting until after that to get cracking and sort some rough patches out. see what ya think.

The tyres are the original Wolf's, the guy restoring the Z is trying to keep it as original as possible.

Slight update.

The old girl passed it's mot today ready for a big day of stripping stuff to be tidied up tomorrow. Will add more pics of the before and afters.
Steering wheel is getting sent to a guy who does leather upholstering at bently. His work looks top notch as you can imagine so bring on the fun tomorrow : ).

Well today we started taking a few things off the Z starting with the interior, seats and carpet came out pretty easy but there was a lot of dampness under there so thought I'd clean it up and then add some hammerite to stop it rusting to death. Front splitter and rear spoiler came off for a paint along with the front grill. Didn't get a pic of these as there was a paint related incident I won't go into. Lol and got a couple of pics of the engine aswell.

did a few things today after work but didnt get any pics as we were in a rush. found some quite bad rust under the back bumper which were gonna pretend we didnt see.lol
gonna order some stuff off the net along with trying to find some good condition carpet to go back in.

After some late night net browsing (overnight parts from japan) lol. We got all new carpet to go back in with new shift boot and handbrake cover along with a new mat set with 260z embroided on. Had a wheel off yesterday and the discs and pads were shot so ordered brembo discs and better pads.
Might try talk my mate into steel brake lines as the brake action seems really long but not really sure if that would cure it. Any1 got any ideas?
Were on doing some painting today on the front splitter so will get pics up later. Took my mate 2 hours to sand down through 4 layers of old paint. Lol

Well its now gone into storage for the winter as my mate is on a SAS army course.

The new parts have arrived which we ordered like all new carpet and mats, the steering wheel has been sent off to be re leathered.
We also changed the front discs and pads aswell as new brake fluid. quite a different brake setup to what im used to changing but still wasnt difficult.

plans are for next year a full respray and rust treatment, i think he wants to stay orange but we'll see, quite an expensive job but will be tip top after that and we'll go do a road trip in it somewhere.

There's a good article in this months Retro Cars about 3 240Zs with different engines in them. There's a couple at Combe that go really well and as Fletch found out the old guy driving one is a true Legend.
