Megane Coupe...quite nice in flesh

This was parked in the Asda car park the other night. Actually looks nice in the flesh, not sure about the back, but the front looks ok, and it's growing on me. RS Megane should be good.

Then when I came out, this was parked next to it.

Interesting to see them alongside each other. Have to say I preferred the V'Hall.

Never driven a Vaux so wouldnt know, oh i have actually. A 58 plate astra twin top, and the cockpit was much better than any renault i have been in.

The coupe looks great in the first pic, and the front view is nice (i, think nicer than the pics of the RS model), but the rear is just ugly, worse than the prev one. Plus, the bottom section of the rear bumper looks like such an afterthought.

I believe so, looks nasty. Seen a couple of 'normal' white Megane Coupes on the road and they look much better than that monstrosity.

That Megane is massive! Looks about two hundred kilo's overweight on those photos! Saying that though, the looks are ok, but the alloys on that one are terrible.

Love the Astra Nurburgring by the way, always had a soft spot for 'em. They sound great with that Remus exhaust, and I actually like them inside!

so when the meg arrives, people wont say "meg 250 looks dinky next to that focus rs"

stop whinging its miles better than the last shape and ive owned two of those. the interior is much nicer too.

remember these are budget cars. renault have moved forward and offered more quality at roughly the same price.

People are also forgetting that that's just "the new Megane" where the Astra is the top of of the range "all singing all dancing" model.

most major league sports cars are massive on the road it gives them a presence that a normal car doesnt have.

btw in the flesh on the move the meg doesnt look that massive TBH, the white makes it look bigger if anything.

Comparing a run-of-the-mill Megane with a £200k supercar, cracking comparison!

I've seen a few on the road and they do look ok, but I prefer the old shape if I'm honest. I'm sure it'll grow on me though.

Well have driven Cavaliers, the last 3 generations of Astra, last three gens of Corsa, and all gens of vectra as well to my knowledge... I've only had them for a day or two and mostly as hire cars but my experience has been that they feel badly put together, the handling is remote and brakes lacking in feel and the styling is at the expense of good function and substance... it's just my own opinion but seeing as that's all i can give that's what I've done!!

But you're right... perhaps I should have substanciated my sweeping generalisation earlier... lol!!!

I was comparing the looks. People have previously said on this very forum that they think it bears a resemblance in some ways to the VXR. Obviously, I couldnt compare the RS model as its not out yet. But thought that would make an interesting starting point for a comparison, as the RS will look similar in many ways to the coupe, and the coupe and VXR i pictured were parked next to each other so gave a readily available comparison.

Also, everyone is missing the point that this particular Megane is (badly) bodykitted. The standard Megane Couple does not look as messy as that, far better lines and much less fussy.
