Misfire, blue smoke, oil light on

Problem: Oil light flickers on idle. Loss of power in middle of the rev range and blue smoke came out the back when it did lose power.

Any answers to the problems would be appreciated. Cheers Marco.

mmm not good

could be a piston ring or an oil seal either way the future sounds bleek

That is a fair trek and Ive got a garage at my disposal. Worth trekking all the way down? I think they have the right diagnostic equipement? Cheers marco

  Whichever has fuel
Piston rings/valve stem seals.

Either way, a secondhand engine is probably your best bet.

£150 from a breakers, £150 fitting.

Its started working again :S Im really confused. Go for a hoss and when it gets hot it will do it again. Let it cool down let it warm up a bit then its fine.

Believe the Bristolian. And then you can have fun taking apart the old engine to see how it works ;)

did i see that you live in otley?

tbh i think dan is right, altho there is no harm in diagnosing it fully, just dont pay through the nose for it!

My friend lives in Otley, I go down sometimes on a night. I live 45 mins away from Otley though and my uncles garage is only 5 miles away. We were thinking of doing the big end bearings and shells quite soon, would it be much harder doing the piston rings?
Cheers for the replies.

if you plan on doing the big ends and shells you might aswell do the piston rings then

that's if the problem is the rings, if you're uncle's got a garage get it in there, family rates ftw ;)
