Mk 2 172 - headlight jets stopped working

When I pull the wiper stalk with the headlights on the windscreen get sprayed and you can hear the motor going for the headlight washers (although it sounds different, maybe louder than normal as though there is no water in the pump?), no water gets sprayed onto the headlights. It not a disconnected pipe or anything, because I have tested it and checked under the car and no water appears. Anybody else experienced this?

sounds like the pumps f**ked or the water pipe is trapped somewhere or blocked.
