Mk 2 Phase 1 Steering wheel adapter

Hi, My managers step son has just bought a 1999 Clio with a pioneer head unit in, But the steering wheel controller or the dash display wont work at all, Which is understandable. I explained he needed an adapter, So went to halfords to buy one and they told him that there is no adapter avaliable that will light up the dash clock, It will just make the steering control work.

Now im not 100% whats correct here as I never bothered doign this.

Does one exist that will make the dash display show the time?
