Mk1 16v- Immobiliser removal?

So a mate of mine has a Mk1 16v, and has lost his only key.

Managed to source a new lock set, key and ignition barrel but obviously the immobiliser will be a problem with the new key.

Is there anyway of removing the immob completely? If not, any simple ways to bypass it?

Annoyingly I binned a couple when I moved house as I just dont have anything to do with Mk1's on standard ECU anymore and they arent worth enough for it to have been worth the hassle of having hanging around ages waiting for a sale.

But as also mentioned in the thread, they are getting harder and harder to find now Im sure, as so few Ph1 left due to tin worm!
