MK1 172 better built than mk2

I have had both, first the 2 now the 1

The 2 is more stylish inside i suppose but IMHO not as aggresive outside

My 2 rattled like mad, had the 4k rattle etc but the mk1 is rattle free and does not suffer from the annying knocking etc that the MK2s seem to suffer from....anyone agree?

Never owned a mk1 but have a mk2 and its built quite well doesnt have any rattles really quiet car, in fact its better built than my mums new beatle

Had a mark 1, mark 2 and a cup in the family...all very much the same!!

all about the same apart from the phase 1 doesnt seem to suffer from all thses suspensions knocks/noises on the phase 2.

My old Mk1 had the annoying knocking on acceleration...
