MK1 172 Vs Mk2 172

Another quick question.

Is the Mk1 172 (1999-2000 old shape one) quicker than the Mk2 172FF (2001 onwards) ?

With throttle having better response with it using a cable instead of fly by wire and better airbox design etc :S

Or am i speaking crap ?

Just a thought as well is a Mk1 172 any lighter than the 172FF ?

Whats the better car ?

Supposedly the Ph1 is faster, but I don't think theres all that much in it tbh...

The clue might be why the Ph 1's are referred to as Ph-Quick's

not much in it apart from the looks, ph1 is lighter due to less spec. and a bit faster

well the ph1 is nicknamed the ph-quick but i'd rather have a ph2 172FF becasue the spec is better and personally i prefare the extra toys, also the ph2 looks better imo

Well renaults official figures for the ph1 0-60 is 7.2 and for the phase 2 is 7secs althou not that you could tell 0.2 of a second!

i have a 182cup and engine wise, i perfer the mk1 172 which i owned before. if it wasnt for the cup suspension i would leave the car in a skip.

ph quick also has a different engine note due to something with exhaust outlet on the engine. Dunno what the technical name for it is, but gives it a deeper roar...

there are quite a few technical differences.
