Mk1 Clio 1.8 16v

  1994 Clio 1.8 16v
Hi all,

About 2 months ago, I decided to sell my BMW E39 M5 as it was costing quite a lot to run and I had a bit of debt I wanted to clear. So I decided I need something a bit cheaper that I can still enjoy and maybe do a trackday or two. At first I was looking at something along the lines of a Mini Cooper S, BMW 328i Sport, Nissan 200SX, MR2 Turbo or something similar.

After seeing a thread on Pistonheads about Coops' Turbo Clio 16v, and liking the look of it, I thought I'd have a little look on eBay to see what was available, and funnily enough there was one fairly locally. I arranged a viewing for the next day and after looking at it I decided to make an offer. The deal was made, and the car was mine!

So I've been driving the car for nearly a month now and quite enjoying it. It's fairly nippy, nimble and fun to drive!

Anyway, took some pics today:

It's not perfect by any means, it needs an alloy refurb, the power steering is fairly noisy and doesn't seem very effective, and the bonnet is fairly badly dented and stone chipped. Other than that it's fairly tidy, and original (bar the lowering and aftermarket exhaust).

Love it! Looks very tidy mate. Any rust?

How come some valvers get that steering wheel instead of the other one? Airbag option, maybe?

Love it mate. Are the rear arches rust free? Noisy power steering is quite common a fluid change makes a little difference but your better changing the pump. What's your plans for it?

No, meant to mention that actually.. it doesn't have the usual rotten arches, and the sills and underside all seem solid! Also, the steering wheel is a ph.2 thing.. the ph.1s didn't have an airbag as far as I know.

Alright Jon..

TBH mate, I don't have any mad plans, as I'm not sure how long I want to keep it.. as Ed knows, I'm looking on eBay / pistonheads at other cars all the time. I think I'd like another BMW I think.. I'm thinking an E36 M3. Should have enough money to easily buy one by the end of the year.

Just plan on tidying it up a little I think, and saving some cash in the meantime! We'll see though.

Nice choice! Would be a good similarity to the M5 too.
