Mk1 Clio RUST

I've Stripped my MK1 Clio right down to the bare shell ready for the cage and new engine and thought while i'm here i might as well protect it from rust.
i was thinking of buying a sand blaster. blasting off the old stuff. and then rust proofing then priming and then panting it ??

is there any better way of doing this ?? also what can i apply to the metal after its been sand blasted before the paint or primer to protect aggest rust

cheers :)

you can use rust treatment, but IMO, your best bet would be just cut out the sections of rusted arch/sil and weld in new sections. even if its just 2nd hand sections that have been cut off write off parts, aslong as they am rust free, use those.

The thing is my shell is about 98% rust free atm. I just don't want to get my whole project finish and find out there has been rust thats turned up?
isnt there some thing i can do while it is just the shell. E.g Sand blast all the undersill and stuff off. and redo it ? but better?

you can do what you like to it mate, but once rust is there, only way to get rid is to actually cut it out.

you can grind it, you can sandblast it, you can treat it, you can fibreglass it, you can paint it. but x months down the line, it will come back through.

if its just surface rust, then it might last longer to get it shotblasted and treated. if its bad, then i wouldnt waste my time, id just cut it out

:) yep thats what i'm planning to do then :)
what ever wont sand blast / Grind off. i will cut out and replace.

Dont think theres any rust that bad at all shells only done 33,000 miles
