Mk2 172 - Wrong Jack

Went to jack the car up using the original jack for the first time.

Im convinced that the jack is the wrong sort, the top is almost flat with sort of chamfered sides if that makes sense. It looked very unstable when positioned under the jacking point (which has a hole there), I know some 172 owners have had their jacking points collapse. I would have thought the jack should have some kind of pin or something that engages in the hole?

What sort of OE jack do you 172 owners have?

same as you mate its the right one but they wont beleive us when we tell them that its not good for it and can collapse as one of mine did

  172, Tiguan

i used a trolley jack last week but noticed the jacking points had been strengthened compared to the dynamique

The flat top one is the wrong one. My 52 plate Cup jacking points got crushed when I used it. In the end, Renault took responsibility, and gave the proper jack, the one with the locating pin on it - to go through the hole on the jacking points. Incidently, the RTE looked in the boot of another MK2 Clio (non 172) and it had the locating pin jack in there!

strange as every cup 172 standard car has the flat top one in and its the right part the tool kits used to have jacks with pins on but they changed them

Never used mine, just grabbed the trolley jack from me garage, Ill check when I get a chance. Mine has the reinforced jacking points aswell but they still bend a little!

Mine sounds like yours, completely poo, you scrape your knuckles on the ground, and its all wobbly and loose and pants. (Its a Renault)
