MK2 tuning Vs Mk3 tuning

  182 cup
Lets say a standard 182 produces 175Bhp and a standard 200 produces 185Bhp

Throw a set of ITB's and cams at them both and the 182 gets 210-215bhp and the 200 should see 220-230. (figures are from members cars who have had said mods done)

So both original inlet mani's, airboxes and maps are removed (Aftermarket ecu installed)

How can the Mk3 get more power? They are both F4R's and have had the same mods.

  Evo 5 RS
improved valve timing and exhaust from the factory are both helping factors - I'm sure theres a few other bits changed

  ITB'd MK1
F4R 830 has higher compression ratio, different inlet ports, fully variable cam timing rather than switched, and different cam profiles

  Astra GSI, 172, Golf
so the 830's cams fitted would be give a slight increase in performance... fitted along with pistons as i take its them thats diff and not the stroke length ?

  ITB'd MK1
been covered before, not that simple due to the VVT control,

CR difference is down to the pistons and the head as the chamber is different too. I'd like to try a set of pistons in a 73x block though
