mikeh Car 182 Trophy May 1, 2013 #1 What's involved and how do people usually do it? Is it just the spacing for one hole that is out? Better to weld up the hole and drill a new one or is it OK to simply elongate the existing one? (My gut feeling is the former).

George182 Car FF BG Turbo 182 May 1, 2013 #2 Probably just buy some cup shocks - they are only £50ish each!!
mikeh Car 182 Trophy May 1, 2013 #3 I'm not talking about modifying OEM cup shocks. I want some coilovers that are for a 172.
W Wick May 1, 2013 #4 You need to drill out the shock Mike to slot the hole, but the way in which you do it will reduce your ability to adjust camber. KTEC coilovers are done like this. Simply re-drilled for cup packed 182's.

W Wick May 1, 2013 #5 Here you go - The lower hole is a sideways 8 silhouette. By moving the lower hole down and inwards, you immediately reduce the camber. To move it down and outwards would put too much stress on that thin bit of mounting plate.

Matt e ClioSport Club Member Car Megane R26 May 1, 2013 #6 could you fit 172/182 non cup hubs? would the driveshafts still fit?
M MG cup Car Cup In bits May 1, 2013 #7 Big washers or small plate welded onto the strut will be the strongest idea, then you can make big long slots for loads of camber adjustment. It all depends on what coilovers you are modifying and how much material there is to play with.
