modin a valver

  2004 Racing Blue 182

right ive decided to mod my baby, i was thinking along the line of a 4-into-1 manifold, a de-cat, and maybe a chip to start with, i already have magnex rear box, and k&n, and the car only has 70k on the clock so a 2.0l engine aint gonna happen, what icreases am i lookin at and where can i get em from and how much, anyone with these for sale would be a billy bonus!

Take the K&N off for a start. Thatll be robbing you of some power. Stick to the original airbox with a performance panel filter or a fully enclosed IK.

I agree with tom

Had a K&N, thought the induction roar was great which was enough for me at the time.

Recently put the original airbox back on with pipercross element and it feels so much better, particularly in hot weather and around town.

Just ordered a de-cat pipe from K-Tec Racing (£59+vat) but wont have it fitted til the weekend.

My car came with K&N and Magnex cat back and the noise was good but car performed better when a BMC CDA was fitted. Got chipped and decated at same time as cambelt was changed, couldnt stretch to get new cams or headwork done but worth thinking about at cambelt change time as that would need doing when head or cams are done anyway so why not combine the two if you can afford it.

Best mod for driveability was the chip which kicks poer in earlier than the usual 4500 rpm and revs higher. Fitting FK Automotive coilovers was also good as cornering and overall handling is a lot more pin sharp now and you can drive that bit faster.

Make sure your brakes are up to scratch though as its no good being able to go faster without stopping. I got Tarox G88 all round but those new Blue Mintex jobbies look quite good.

brakes not a problem mate, it has cross-drilled, grooved and vented discs all round and EBC greenstuff padsall round, stops on a penny!

Think they do the FK Automotive coilovers now I got. Think mine were 480 for the normal ones. You pay about 150 for adjustable damping which I dont think is worth it.

Chip and suspension will make it fly and give you most smiles for the money. Sort out IK (viper if Ktec have sorted for 16v yet) and deecat to get most out of chip mod.

Yeah take the K&N and throw it away. Wouldnt bother with the manifold at the mo...the cast job is pretty good as is but would go for the decat, chip, pbv, cams n pulleys...
