A (very) harsh winter later and the car was filthy. I blame the weather conditions and a 2 hour trip on a newly surfaced road. The wheels caked in brake dust (this stuff had really welded itself on) and more tar on the body work than I have ever encountered.
This resulted in a 9 hour clean, 3 bucket method took about 3 of these, and the other 6 spent working tar off the bodywork whilst trying to avoid any permanent damage (god bless Meguires Gold Class Bug and Tar remover).
Shortly followed by a little mod/tidy up courtesy of N2Graphix.
Then a little project surfaced. I managed to get 4 15" superturismos cheap as chips for an ebay auction titles "Kangoo wheels" and the description didn't give much away either. I took a punt on the pictures alone. When they arrived I couldnt believe my luck, they are the ones that (back in the day) could be ordered through Renault themselves - no idea for what model - but have the tastier offset. I wasent sure I could pull these off without mega-lowzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, I even attempted to sell them. I took the benefit of the doubt and gave them a first class refurb.
Extensively sanded. Not good enough for these wheels.
Next Level manouver:
Sandblasted and ready to paint.
Throw in some genuine OZ CF centercaps, sportlines (Cheers Darren C) and a KTEC matt carbon fibre splitter and you have:
I love it, it looks just how I wanted it to. I don't even think it needs a cup spoiler (that I was previously convinced by). C&C welcome...
