More air means more power

^The standard feeds go just behind the vent under the front N/S light. However it isnt a direct flow there is one or two plastic bits crossing the flows path but it still allows for some fresh air to reach the cafs.

Have a look on eBay for the piping.

If you take the light off you can cut away a lot of plastic from underneath it and then position the feeds right behind the vent.

Yes the size of the inlet to the tb is a factor, but that's not what this mod is addressing, this is addressing the restriction in the feed. Once this is done you can work on the rest as you could also say ther's no point sorting out the inlet pipe without sorting the feed to the airbox.

I've just disconnected my standard feeds and will have a run out later with the RSTuner unit all plugged in. Will do a few runs up and down the DC, then will connect them up again and try again. I'm hoping to see that without the feeds the manifold pressure isn't dropping anymore. Not bothered about air temps for this test, I purely want to see if the standard feed is causing my pressure drop.

Is the filter element clean, ChrisR? All the same this should be interesting.

Are you offering re-maps, is that what the RSTuner unit is for?

Just out of interest, how does the light come off? Please don't say you need to take those two star screws out that are behind the bumper!

As above, unfortunatly you do have to take the 2 screws out and the 1 above the cluster, you will have to take the bumper off unless you can get the lower grill section off with it still on (not recommended!).

I took the front bumper and grille off. The light was held in by 4 screws. Think I had to loosen the wing a little too to get it off.

Filter hasn't been on the car long, 12k or so I think.

Interestingly the rstuner thingy records the air temp. With the standard feeds disconnected it was a lot lower than with them hooked up for some reason!

Will be sending the logs off to Fastchip to see what they reckon to things :)

chris, what were your manifold pressure reading with and without airfeeds ?

and what did Henk have to say about the airtemp being lower ?

He hasn't commented on the lower temps, found the mani pressure to be slightly higher without the feeds but there's still a slight drop.

Bear in mind when I tested this is was freezing cold and late at night, on purpose so that the bay temps wouldn't be as bad.
