More power from standard!

At one point i had a basically £1000 system in my car, inc, subs hu spks etc, not much when u add prices together but alot better than a standard sound!

Anyway, i decided to sell up and go for the standard aproach but kept uprated door speakers- JBL's all around

I've decided i now want more volume without changing hd etc or getting 6x9's..

Can i just get an amp and run the 4door speakers off it and expect them to be a lot louder. with the standard headunit i can listen to music at like number 24 without any problems, any louder and i have to start turning bass down etc as it just distorts which does my tits in. i want to keep the standard look!

would you recommend getting some awesome speakers or will it be a waste using them with a standard headunit?

yep, amped comoponants are the way forward, glad your not getting 6x9s! dont know about the standard unit thing, obviously an upgraded one will give u a better sound

If you like listening to loud music then yes, uprated everything will help. Just depends how far you want to go. If you get uprated speakers and leave the headunit as it is, you won't get the full capacity from the speakers, although it will still be better than standard speakers.

Adding an amplifier will allow you to listen to higher volumes undistorted, depending on how much RMS your speakers can handle.

The HU shouldn't be too much of an issue as the speakers will be powered by the external amp, not the HU.

Only trouble is you'd need an RCA converter or an amp with speaker level inputs, as the factory HU doesn't have low voltage pre-outs for RCA's.

I've put 6x9's which are amped and uprated my standard speakers and I think it sounds great. I know alot of people on here would say that it messes up the soundstage. It probably depends on the kind of music you listen to.

Amped 6x9's could work ok if you put them through the LPF on the amp instead of having a sub.

the little circles on the dash in the clio, is it easy to fit tweeters into those or are they for something else already?
