more torque

had my car on the rollers at john nobles yesterday and cant say i was to impressed with the torque results. it made 160 bhp ( mods- k&n, exhaust, cams, hill power stage 2 chip)which i thought was about rite but the torque was only 123 lbft. iam i rite in thinking that the standard willliams makes 129 lbft. the bloke there said it might be because of the fast road cams and i might be better putting the sandard cams back on. any opinions on how o get more torque?. also ive put the graph below if helps anybody.

Any chance of a bigger graph, my eyesight isnt what it was!

Standard valver is 116-119lb/ft
Standard willy is 129lb/ft

Mine showed 133.8lb/ft @ 4801rpm on the rollers.

It does seem very low with a 2.0.

Chip - what with that kind of turn out id have to question there rollers m8. Gazza who owns a willy 3 made 186bhp with the same mods you have listed. Tho u dont have your head / manifold ported and polished which he had done.

When Cliosport went down to BBPT for the RR session, most willy owners was making 160bhp - 165bhp with just with a chip and filter. As everyone will tell u BBPT RR is spot on. Cant remember torque figures people was getting.

With all your mods, you should be making better figures i think.

rockport its not the bhp iam bothered about because i think its quite a realalistic figure, you say that most willys make 160 -165 but how many make that at john nobles. didnt adis clio only make 165 at nobles. its the torque that iam abit worried about. i think by putting cams in i have lost my torque but gained peak power beause peak power was at the rev limiter, would the power come down in the rev range if i advance the cams by a couple of degrees. tom 16v heres a bigger graph.

oh - fair play then chip. Your best bet maybe to speak with someone like Nick Hill, i still think you should get a 2nd oppinion on someone elses rollers tho.

What power and torque figure were you hoping too see prior to going?? You seem to have got a reasonable power graph so i wouldnt really doubt the rollers. How is the torque measured?? I know your BHP is at the fly.

How low was your output to what you were expecting??

i wanted at Least 160bhp other wise i would have sold the car, LOL. But i expected to get at least standard torque figures. i wouldnt mind doin a couple of 1/4 mile though because i think its a better way guaging performance

my motor made 147bhp and 123lb/ft at john noble rollers wen i was stage 2 1.8. other 2litre theres on that rolling road day made 160bhp and 130-odd lb/ft. tbh, i think jn rollers are accuarate, but i always use the wheel power of 118bhp, as calculating flywheel power is dodgy no matter where u go.

i wudnt be worried about that power figure

nobles, just down the road! where u from fella!

when i went the cups and 172s were showing around 162bhp. my 1800 made 147bhp and 123lb/ft of torque exactly as jimbos did! although iv since had k-tec manifold which has definately improved torque, and a few other bits including a run in engine ;)

i from derby mate, took me ages to get there because of those crappy roads works round the corner from nobles. if 172s were getting 162bhp that makes me feel abit better

  172 exclusive no 172

not been to nobels but went to pts in luton.. last nov power 147 bhp at fly and 126lb/ft, only mods are full straight through exhaust and piper x air filter... ooo and the heads been skimmed a few times.... these figs have to be wrong also... but my torque curve was a lot straighter than that mate

have you agraph of before yu did the mods to compare ???

Torque is measured as is at the wheels as the torsional power and BHP is calculated, you cannot measure BHP, it is a work done calculation.
