A quick intro/hello to all.

Basically been a Renault sport fan for a long number of years and therefore owned a lot of renaults (mainly clios). I really like the oem + look, particularly the standard lowered look. I take a lot of pride in all the cars I own.

I have realised I have never actually put a project thread together for any of my cars on here, so thought I may as well start with my new purchase but firstly a few photos of my recent cars and current cars.

Cars I have owned in the last 12 months.

Clio 182 Trophy no 226. Bought from @JoedotwasT5phy in 2011. A truly epic car and become part of the family but did a deal with this and cash on an Alien Green 200 so sadly said goodbye to it.
image.jpeg

Clio 182 Racing Blue. A very clean car once finished. A lot of time and energy used sourcing original parts particularly the interior including seats, panels etc. Now owned by @Jenesaisqoui
image.jpeg

Clio 200 Alien Green FF - I really really miss this car but was so clean that I dare not drive it. It won car of the show at Goodwood in the summer so kind of proved how good it was to me. I did think about boosting it but it was just to good to mess with. Now been carefully looked after by @NorthloopCup
image.jpeg

Golf mk1 Clipper Cabrio. Spent 2 years on this project, great great car when finished. Enjoyed this summer cruising around the Derbyshire Peaks in it.
image.jpeg

And onto my current collection:

Number 120 Phase 2 Clio v6. Owned this for the last 11 years and still feels like a brand new car to me, it is simply an epic motor. Coilovers, recaro pole positions, cromodora magnesium alloys etc.
image.png

Renault 5 GT Turbo. Been on this car for last 4 years - full nut and bolt resto. Hopefully be done for the summer (don't quote me on that). Glad I started it when I did as parts are so rare and expensive now. Good examples of these are now going for £10k +
image.jpeg

Number 120 Clio 182 Trophy. Bought this during the summer as I missed my other Trophy so much and also like my vee was build number 120. A great motor and hasn't missed a beat. Bought from @dablk
image.jpeg

Now for my newest purchase - Clio 200 Full Fat in Liquid Yellow.

Project Yellow 200 underway. Watch this space

A very enviable clio journey you've had mate. But i think you've missed a trick by not buying one in a more sedate hue[emoji38]. Look forward to seeing how you make a car so bloody smart looking. All the secrets will out eventually.

Thanks mate.

As for the colour, I really wanted a Storm Grey 200 but decent spec ones are £9k plus (if you can find one) where as this cost car cost the same as a decent 182. And tbh I really like liquid yellow and said I would own one at some point.

Yes i got it with a few jobs outstanding (which I will come onto) but for the money and route the car is going to take means they were not an extra cost (except for one that is).

Now that's what I call a collection Paul! I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the LY project too. Remember me for the gearbox though! Lol!

  Nil presently.
Fantastic collection Paul, hope all's well your end mate.

The 182 simply hasn't missed a beat since owning it, a real testament to your workmanship. I'm heartbroken to have to sell it, however I'm due to relocate to Dubai in the coming months and can't condone leaving it on my parents driveway for 2 years. With the number of smiles it's given me, it was most definitely worth every penny :) Thanks again mate!

I remember seeing your V6 about 9 years ago when I bought some turinis off you, fell in love and that's why I ended up with my own one for a year or so!
Great cars!

Lovely collection! More pictures needed!

Thanks and yes more photos to follow.

you ned to speak to someone...

seriously though that is an awesome collection. The V6 goes without saying. Love the odd one out, VW. Where do you keep em all....

Thanks. A long drive, garage and a neighbours garage and a car port, lol.

Great cars!! How come you sold one 200, to buy another?

I want to Meg a 200 but the Alien was just to nice to mess with, hence getting the LY.

Now that's what I call a collection Paul! I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the LY project too. Remember me for the gearbox though! Lol!

Thanks mate and yep the gearbox has your name on it pal.

Oh and this is when you drove the Alien off from my house :(

You're very welcome buddy and I'm glad the car has been good to you  hope all goes well in Dubai for you.

Lovely cars mate, for me though, Clio V6' should stay as they came - they wheels and spoiler really take the shine off that for me!

I know what your saying mate. The car currently looks like this: but I bored very easily, lol.

Amazing cars! Love the golf too.
V6 looks lovely

Thanks mate. Golf was really nice and immaculate when I finished it.

Thanks buddy, how's your vee coming along?
Thanks mate, absolutely love the car, which is bad as wanted too sell it and make a buck. But that is not happening,it just needs the front bumper painted but its trusting a good bodyshop which is the problem.

Spot on mate, properly nice set of cars you've owned/own! I've not seen the LY yet (you drop your kid off at the nursery in the same building that I work at).

Nice one buddy! Just give me the nod as and when.

Haha! I saw you take a pic as I was ready to set off mate. It's in safe hands though now. I do have a confession though - I've bought a standard manifold to replace the toyosport one. This is purely based on the fact that I'm fitting an akrapovic evolution exhaust and I can't be bothered to faff when it comes to mot time!

The young lad in the pic has more intelligence than you FACT

That would be Junior Mossy (aka Oliver). He has asked me to paint the yellow one green, lol. I kind of get his point

I can feel your pain regarding bodyshop selection. Front bumper on the vee has been painted 3 times now (blooming stone chips) and can say that the last spray was the only one I was really happy with.

Lovely cars mate and a great thread, lol at your wife making sure she gets in the photo

Lol, she loves the attention. And she must love me to put up with my expensive hobbie

Love the 5 and the V6/Trophy matching numbers pal

Thanks Chris mate  yes pair of 120's. Any more progress with your 5?

Hi Ben mate, hope your ok. I have had the LY literally 2 weeks and driven it only a hand full of times. It's going for a lot of work soon so I wont be driving it for a while.

That's no problems matey. Have you got the standard manifold yet? This LY has a brand new one on it!! Cost the girl that owned it nearly £600!!! It will be coming off soon, hopefully

Nope, it's deteriorating :(

On the plus side, applied for planning permission for chucking a garage / workshop on the back of the house and it's been accepted  This will be 5's ultimate chance if it happens

The Cup is more demanding than the mortgage at the moment!

Who do you have lined up to do the conversion Paul?

It's a local Renault specialist mate (I don't want to name names at this point if you get me, just in case it doesn't happen). But he wants to do the conversion and use it as a demo for further business. We are currently looking for a decent R26 - possibly a rear ender write off (cheaper). This way I get the wheels and recaro seats to keep/sell on as I see fit.
We're a bit away yet but hopefully (fingers crossed) we will get there.

So now for the project :)

Car was advertised locally on eBay at an ok price so I had a view. Overall the car looked nice except for the passenger side rear arch needed a repair. During test drive I discovered the 4th gear synchro had gone :( Apart from this the car drove lovely. Then I checked the service history and discovered the cambelt hadn't been done :( So here we had 3 major issues with only one of them being mentioned in the advert! I therefore politely walked away. But then got a message that night asking how much? So after a couple of messages later my cash offer was accepted :)

Work needed
Cambelt
Gearbox
Arch repair

Poorly steering wheel
image.jpeg
image.jpeg

Cigarette burns (this really p1sses me off!!!).
image.jpeg
image.jpeg

Gearknob wear
image.jpeg

Handbrake

Scratched boot trim

Yes of course I will mate.

Not exactly a loved example then, the price must have been good! If anyone can turn it around its you Paul. Can't wait to see the progress.

Thanks buddy. Yes the price was very good, it was basically the price of a half decent 182 :) and bearing in mind the engine and gearbox will be swapped out.

Those seats!!!

Bad ain't they!! Can't believe people actually spent extra money to have these as an add on.
And don't worry I do have a cunning plan :)
