Much difference between standard 172, a 182 FF or a 182 Trophy?

  172 Flamer
I currently have a standard 172 which is great fun although I do feel its a little lacking. I was thinking of doing a few mods like some Eibach Pro Lowering Springs and maybe the K-Tec stage 1 tuning, even to just make it smoother and cure the cold start problems.

However, I have some money coming to me which got me thinking, it is worth doing these mods to my 172 or would the change to say a 182 FF (Cup Suspension at least) or even a 182 Trophy be a big difference that I would notice it? Ideally I would like something a bit more engaging, firmer with more get up and go. The 172 has always felt a bit lacking in power or civilized but with awsome grip and handling.

Would the Cup suspension found on the 182 Cup/182 Trophy really feel that different over my standard 172 suspension?

Would the 182 Cup or 182 Trophy feel much difference in terms of power delivery or are the differences more handling orientated?

Thanks for your help.

The 172/182 Cup suspension are barely any different.

The biggest change is the Trophy. By far.

If you want to get change your 172, it would be fairly pointless to get a 182 unless it was a Trophy.

but even that is just a 182 cup with a cheap paint job, crap seats and cliosport member approved wheels

ok the fancy suspension is quite good

It's also got a plaque so when you stand in the car park you can tell people which number you are. And stickers. Everyone loves stickers.

Thanks for the replies guys. So stick with standard 172 or move up to the 182 Trophy seems to be the popular vote :)

So with that in mind is there much noticable performance difference with the 182 Trophy over a standard 172 or is it all in the handling because of the cup suspension?
