Yeah that's right yet another one on the forum!

This one's a bit different though bought it from a mate for pennies after he needed to get rid for a new car.. and The title says it all really

Here's Pics of it how it arrived

Not got any set plans for it really and it's actually a 3rd car so wont have lots of money to go JDM Yo!

I like the BBS it came with but they are only 14" so most of the tyres available for it are crap :( would like a nice set of 15's for it so can have proper size tyres!

Currently also on the look out for a decent bonnet!

It already has a silly loud de-catted Mazdaspeed exhaust which is fun with the roof down, and some cheapo lowering springs and thats about it..

I'm thinking of also trying to find a decent set of JDM Billies for it and maybe an LSD but for now just generally enjoying have a bit of rwd fun

Apologies for picture quality couldn't be arsed to get the proper camera out as it's filthy and it covers that up a bit

like above, forget the lsd, weld it and learn to drive propperly!

  Toyota MR2
Do it, do it, do it!

Its going to be my winter project. The only silly part is the roll cage, costs 3 times the value of the car! Need to do some scrappy hunting for a good shell and engine and then fingers crossed i'll make it out mid season next year.

Seen a round of this at Combe looked pretty good fun tbh!

RWD competitive racing with grids of 25+, sideways action through corners at 80mph+ ?! I'd be crazy not to sign up!

Defo weld it! they sit sideways with the best of them!

Needs Rotas iirc...

Looks like a cracking drive mate!

  Listerine & Poledo
leave the 14's on, they're good for it.

windblocker, adjust timing and get the windscrren air-feed (cant remember the name for it right now).

a bit of a wash and you've got a good un

Hmm not sure on welding the diff dont want to totally ruin it!

Yeah Gally deffo needs Rota's ;) Although I am keeping a cheeky eye out for some 15's as dont think the Comp MO's gathering dust in my garage would suit it..

Goodj Only really thinking of going 15 like I mentioned before purely to get some nice tyres for the winter like Parada's or something.. What do you mean about the windscreen?

my dads just bought a mk2 .. he keeps hiding the keys dammit

Lol I keep it parked at my Mum's normally (when Clio is working!) and my step-dad who has an M5 has been known to use it instead :S

So not updated this thread in a while.. the 5hed has taken over the track duties from the now sold 172.

So it got used exactly as I bought it a few times (bar some cheap 15's with budgetastic tyres):

Around Castle Combe and the Burpspeed LLandow day

It even had enough room to go camping at Llandow:

It was great fun and made me realise i'd made the right choice of RWD over FWD for track fun.

Naturally these days highlighted a few things thats needed changing.

First things first safety:

Bought a proper rollbar and got a harness bar welded into it as wasn't too keen on the bolt in types (bit of a nightmare too fit)

Added a deep dish wheel and a couple of buckets and some harnesses at the same time as the standard seats offer no side support whatsoever!

The buckets I fitted with some JBFabrications brackets which get the seats a lot lower than standard.

I then gave it a bit of a run out a Curburough with Fiat Coupe Club

sprintday1185.jpg

The tyres decided even a sprint day was too much for them

2012-09-15_11_05_14.jpg

It was around this time my Dad and I decided to build a garage (which came in handy a few times)

2012-11-09_09_16_06.jpg

Link for obligitary build thread here:
http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?668160-Garage-Build!-On-a-Budget!

After the sprint day it showed up a few things that were lacking on the car..

Firstly I bought a whole set of arms to polybush. Crap job removing the things!

Man sized tools

2012-09-06_15_06_21.jpg

The bushes gave up the fight!

2012-09-06_15_04_53.jpg

2012-09-06_15_05_57.jpg

The arms then got sent off along with some Cusco uprated ARB's I had bought for a bit of colour before I installed the Polybushes.

They came back a little something like this:

2013-02-09_21_09_36.jpg

2013-02-12_11_18_52.jpg

The hundreds of bushes were then installed with a bit of "Red & Sticky"

2013-01-11_16_31_54.jpg

2013-02-10_10_07_06.jpg

I got some 16" Compomtive CXN2's cheap so thought i'd try them.. didn't like them

2012-06-15_16_55_161.jpg

By this point winter was here.. the 5hed got treated to some nice winter tyres and some 15" MO's instead and had fun whilst other's in the family whimped out and used a 4wd :sleepy:

2013-01-20_13_17_45.jpg

Then with a trackday at Bedford looming I decided I actually better get on with fitting parts.

With a couple of days off work I fitted:

Torsen LSD with driveshafts and prop
Changed to 1.8 brake discs and "Rodders" pads
Mazdaspeed dampers with eibach springs
Cusco ARB's
Wishbones with polybushes
New Track rod end's
New ball joints
Upper and lower gearstick boots
Gearknob extender (stop me bashing my elbow on fast changes)
All fluids changed (gearbox, dif, engine oil and coolant)

And some cosmetic stuff incluidng the right colour bonnet and headlight covers, Garage Vary replica splitter (PU instead of fibreglass) and offset plate holder.

Also bough a nice high lift low entry jack which made things loads easier:

Pics below in no particular order:

Naturally the old hubnuts refused to move even with a 900nm airgun and heat..

2013-01-31_14_57_11.jpg

So mr angle grinder solved that eventually!

2013-02-11_22_11_57.jpg

The car needed a wee bit of alignment before seeing the track

Camber and toe all over the place isn't ideal for track!

2013-02-11_22_11_09.jpg

2013-02-11_22_10_43.jpg

So after about 40hours work on the car over 2 and a bit days the garage was a bit of a state..

2013-02-11_16_39_41.jpg

2013-02-11_16_39_55.jpg

So the 5hed got kicked out on it's new Uniroyals ready for Bedford

2013-02-12_13_21_12.jpg

And the garage got a bit of a tidy awaiting the roof to go on it a few days later

2013-02-12_13_20_51.jpg

All this work meant a fault free day at Bedford bar the drivers window motor going on the way there which I was pretty happy with!

All that's needed now before the Burpspeed Llandow day is too fit a new CV boot and my new shiny chassis frame rail's!

Wanna know the most annoying bit.. one of the front ones had a broken droplink bracket so had to fit the bushes to the old one, gutting :banghead:

I could get the spares done if really interested?
