Right Chris I'm not being a bellend mate, I'm currently on to my second clio turbo conversion and know how much it costs to do something correct so rather than see you spending a lot of hard earned cash to make the components you have work I'm trying to steer you in the right direction.

The manifold you have linked to on ebay is a t25/t28 manifold and is the same one that is available from ktec for considerably more. The only other version available is ktecs own manifold which is also for t25/t28 turbos.

The guy in the youtube vids is Scoff he built a hybrid f4r clio engine running a shorter crank which lowered both capacity and compression ratio. He ran this with stock pistons and rods untill 400+bhp when it snapped a rod. Running uprated rods and standard pistons he made 550bhp at a rolling road day I attended last year. He's since changed alot of things for this years drag season.

Anyway hes putting 20+psi of boost through his realistically (unless you go for a low comp set up) the most you will be able to put through yours running standard CR is 7/8psi as per both Ktecs and engine dynamics low boost conversions the problem with such a large turbo is the amount of turbo lag you will encounter you'll probably be looking at 5k+ rpm before it spools up. You will also find that a turbo of that size will no fit between the bulkhead and the engine like mine below

To run a turbo that size Scoff made a custom manifold that brought the turbo round above the gear box.
Have a read through Ashy's thread below he's done the same as Scoff but not to the same extreme levels.

Anymore questions just fire away mate :)

Thats it fully fitted mate but it sat very close to the bulk head. I ended up buying ktecs group N mounts to stop the engine rocking so much. That turbo in the pic is a GT28R and is alot smaller than the one you have.

Hi Chris

Not often I look in on here but saw the new look forum and decided to have a browse.

The TO4E you have is a copy, it'll most likely be a 50trim TO4E compressor with an 0.63ar T3 turbine. That's a 300hp+ turbo. If your realistic sights were not set that high then you really aught to have bought a T28, GT2860r or the likes. That particular copy I've had a few encounters with, generally they seem to get through thrust bearings somewhat quicker than a garret would. I fitted a 360deg thrust kit to one with good results. (the standard unit comes with a chocolate 270deg bearing and collar)

As steve says, that turbo will have a T3 flange and so will not fit on to the cast manifold. The discharge for downpipe will also be different, probably the common T3 5 bolt flange ?

And steve, re 20+ psi in mine, that would be low boost in my book

Good luck with the project.

The last I heard from Chris he was just going to give it a miss, by the time he looked at the cost of either a) using the turbo he had and having all custom manifold and down pipe made or b) ditching the turbo and buying off the shelf manifolds/downpipe and a GT28r it was going to be mega expensive.

LOL at 20psi being low boost, you going to Nat Day Scoff? As I'll get you that beer I've been promising you for the last 2 years ;)
