My Integra DC2

  DC2 TypeR / E36 328i
I had to look twice. Pics look great and love the sound, what exhaust?

It's a bit of a triggers broom.

Starts off as a UKDM manfiold, bolted to a 96 spec JDM collector, through a Tegiwa decat, to a DC Sports Centre section, and a Janspeed backbox to finish.

phew, thats a mouthful!

Great photography, really dislike the wheels.

Looks awesome, I love the slipstreams personally.

They really are marmite, I don't mind them that much to be honest, in no rush to get rid.

Car is looking awesome.
I assume those photos are Birstall IKEA?
Just round the corner from my house!

Sure is bud. I've always wanted to go there to take pics.

Went with my 35mm, was a bit disappointed in the lighting, had it in my head that they were LED downlighters!

very nice mate

Thankyou!

Yeah I've been through to check the car park out as a photo location, but the lights aren't as great as I expected.
Have seen plenty of people shoot cars in there though so it must be OK.

They don't make a fantastic daily these days, but as a toy they're fantastic.

Didn't realise I haven't actually updated this for over a year, I'll write an update today but it'll be massive lol.

Riiiiightttt.

Chapter One: Chav

8442123354_30ed212346_c.jpg

Lets start with the last picture of the DC2 I posted in this thread. Then, an innocent, lightly modded UKDM DC2. At this time, the car was my daily doing around 3-350 miles per week.

I ditched the Rotas for a set of Sprint SW96s, in Championship White, fitted amber corners to replicate a USDM DC2 and also had a Buddy Club Spec 2 exhaust on by this point.

The exhaust was, a little bit rude:

I loved the car like this, spent many a weekend just cleaning it! those were the days...

Chapter Two: Honda Enthusiast

What I couldn't help but think however, was the real reason I got a DC2 was because of seeing it like this

dc2-integra-98-spec.jpg

Not the UKDM I have, so I set out to build that car.

This is what I ended up with:

The JDM conversion was a learning curve to say the least. It involved cutting away at the frame, welding a new front section on and hacking away at the loom to get the lights working.

The car stayed like this for a while then, I was just enjoying driving it.

I spent my time maintaining and servicing it at this point. I had a standard JDM exhaust, every possible filter was changed, new plugs/HT leads etc. Fully standard engine and interior. It was fine to commute and still a lot of fun when I wanted it to be :)

Chapter Three: Daily Driving Duties

Mid way through last year I managed to move up the ladder with my job, and ended up having a much healthier income, which allowed me to buy something I've wanted for a while, an E36 daily. (Oi you at the back stop laughing)

Can't really explain why, but there's just something about the E36 Coupe's that I've loved from a young age - much like the DC2. Perfect partnership, I thought.

I spent a while looking and eventually found one in perfect spec, a 328i Sport manual in Techno Violet

I've got another thread on this car so I wont say much, but I really do love it. It seems the E36 came from a time when just making good cars mattered most. It rides perfectly, power delivery is smooth and it sure isn't slow.

Chapter Four: The Nurburgring

With the daily sorted, I went a bit nuts with the DC2 before I took her to the 'ring.

Added, was

  • Race Logic Coilovers (new)
  • Ultra Racing front and rear strut braces
  • Seibon Carbon Fibre Bonnet
  • Seibon Carbon Fibre Wing
  • J's Carbon Fibre Intake Scoop
  • Apexi N1 Catback
  • (probably some more I've forgotten)

I loved it. Not long after, I ended up at the ring. Stopped by London on the way, as I've never been before.

The past few weeks however, I've been making a few changes.

Chapter Five: Function>Form

It'll be quicker to summarise the changes rather than try to show them in pictures.

I've ditched the carbon bonnet, wing and canards. The ABS has gone, and the air con is going at the weekend.

I have some new wheels ready to go on, Desmond Regamaster 16x7. I have Yoko A048 rubber ready to go on the OEM alloys for track.

S2000 clocks are now fitted with oil temp and pressure gauges at either side.

Harness will be getting ordered this week, some new wings are being bought to tidy things up - then she's ready for 2014.

I don't have any proper pics of the above yet, but below are some off my phone.

I'll keep this thread upated from now on with little bits that I'm doing. Yesterday for example I found myself removing sound deadening, and had to retap the threads on my dizzy to get the rotor to fit on properly. All good stuff eh.

The air con coming out I'm very much looking forward to. The system weighs around 20kg, I wonder if I can get the DC2 down to a ton?

If i'm being honest i would prefer it with the UK front end and standard white wheels. Nice amount of effort though!

Love the BMW too.

Spoiler went last night. :)

Nice update!

DEM WHEELS!

Can't wait to get them on!!

Fair enough, I do in some ways regret changing the front end looking back if I'm honest. Not that I don't like the way it looks, but maybe the time and money could have been better spent elsewhere.

This is how it was as of last night

Just the OEM spoiler to put back on now... Going to do some test drives first and see how it drives without.

Sounds a great engine. My mate has one in his EK9. What power does it have? 200bhp or is that just the JDM ones?

Seemed like a pretty quick lap you put in there. Been many times before?

The UK cars have 10bhp or so less than the JDM cars, but you can gain pretty much all of that back by fitting a JDM exhaust (which mine has!)

Hopefully, I'll have a Mugen Intake and a Mugen twin loop catback exhaust on it soon, possibly topped off with a Toda exhaust manifold. Should put me above 200bhp :)

I preferred "Chav" spec tbh

Chav spec with 99 wheels or the rega's.

Oh and your BMW is mighty mighty fine.

Thanks.

I liked the look of the carbon, but the bonnet was vented allowing water to soak my HT leads and distributor, and the spoiler was all swollen - it looked like it had a nut allergy.

Bought some more parts this morning.

By this weekend I should have:

Mugen Twin Loop exhaust
Mugen Intake
Mugen Pedals
Clock gauge pod
Sun strip

Hopefully be getting that lot fitted along with removing the air con and giving the car a good clean.

If all goes well I'll book on Cadwell for the week after!

Have to take a loan out for the Mugen intake?

The EP3 Mugen boxes go for about £600! LOL!

Awesome, update us with some lovely pics matey :)

Will do :)

Me likes. I need some VTEC in my life TBH.

You do, make sure it's B series though. Can't be having any of that boring H/K/F rubbish :p

Well its a Tegiwa replica I'm getting from a mate for £180. Needs the filter cleaning but still a low price :)

Got the exhaust for £300, nothing for a proper JASMA approved Mugen one!

Hate to think what I've spent on this car lol..

Haha, I'll be glad to have a quieter exhaust! No more worries about getting on track :)

You had a few DC2s?
